The Positive Thread

I’m just as disappointed as everyone else with the latest results but wanted to create a space where we could share positive commentary and take a break from the negativity.

Positive comments ONLY please.

I’ll start:

  • Lehi is back next week
  • Turbo has a LOT of upside that we haven’t seen this year yet
  • We have 2 byes in the next month, which could leave us in or around the top 8 and all may not be lost
  • Walsh seems to be impressing people in NSW Cup
  • Some of our best talent has re-signed, Lehi, Koula, Haumole
  • Turbo and Jurbo have said they would never play for another NRL team and would happily take a pay cut to stay on. 2027 could be a big year of recruitment.
  • We have signed the halfback of the team currently leading the comp and I believe he is more consistent than our current halfback which will help our team be more consistent
  • We have recruited some of the best youngsters around that could prove fruitful in a few years; Walsh, the Larges, Zaidas, Hart all have big potential.

We only have to watch this team 10 more times this season. That's a huge positive for me.

All means zip, If you have a captain and a coach that are USELESS

Lehi Hopoate is a gun and 2025 was the start of what will be a great career
Oka has had great moments
Koula is getting better and more involved
Tommy Talau is a true fighter and regardless of zero energy from his team mates, apart from the few mentioned above, plays with enthusiasm every opportunity

Probably he main positive involving Manly in 2025, is the ability to play a poor team back into form and make washed up or average players look like Superman....that's the main posit and it definitely involves Manly

I’ve gotta give this a go, hopefully it will prove therapeutic……

We’re one win out of the eight………so we’re still a shot at playing semi final footy, just trying to keep the dream alive.

Dollar is leaving…….that’ll give us some cash to spend up front and good riddance

We’ve already lost to all the bottom dwellers……..so there should be no more upset defeats

We haven’t had 50 put on us (yet)……close 48…..so the dream is still alive

We put 42 on the cows and 40 on the raiders

We beat the 4 time reigning premiers

We didn’t play our home game at magic round and we beat the Donkeys back at Brookie

We beat Parramatta (once)

Lehi looks like keeping the fullback legacy alive at the Eagles.

It’s not all doom and gloom……..

Some good points however bullet point 2 needs some discussion. I am beginning to think we may never see Turbo's upside again. He seems well and truly cooked after repetitive injuries. Lehi is now clearly our number 1, number 1.

The positive for me is we are so bad that surely someone , anyone up the top is going to say “ it’s time for a big big change “.

Really it needs blowing up and rebuilding, but if that’s done brace yourselves for many years of mediocre performances until we have the right mix.

Aging , perennially injured players need to be moved on OR a couple signed for positions 23-30.

Look to recruit promising youngsters who haven’t cracked it with other teams , or recruit the best we can from Q Cup & NSW Cup.

The whole “ build it around 2-3 players hasn’t worked “ build from youth , and try and get a few gun players to come over time.

So my positive is “ we are at the bottom the only way is up.

Good thread ... as I have said previously ... I will make a definitive decision on Seibold and the club when I see what they do with the bit of salary cap space coming their way .... rather than the spare change they have had to work with for the past 2 years.

The lack of grunt in our pack, caused by both injuries and lack of depth has had a substantial impact on our performances ... our Halfs have been rendered largely ineffective without attacking field position.

They know we need a couple of dynamic pigs ... I just hope a couple become available ...

Kudos have to be given to the retention of Lehi, Haumole, Bully, Koula, et al

This season may have turned to crap ... but I'm not ready to concede the club has.

A positive is Siebold said our forwards have been sh*t & news comes out Schoupp will be leaving to bring in a new front rower. Hopefully we strike right
Really, where was this reported I may have missed it. Bloody need something tho.

Yeah we played alright, but both their middles off origin duty and no Walsh with Arthurs fb. It was hardly a win for the ages, but yeah prob one of the better showings this year.

For me the positive is we have got players who have preformed

And if we are being honest with ourselves we have players who simply havnt

Hard as it is to even say this but Jake and Tom are simply not in our best 17 going on form

But on the flip side we have players who when called up have performed
I wasn't big on Faulalo or Jazz but they have been good. ALSO Simpkins.. why are we dropping this guy to make room for Jake??? And that's on the coaching staff.. sadly they pick on names and not on performance.

We will avoid the spoon but I believe the team we should be selecting ( barring injuries of course) looks like this

1 Lehi
2 Talau
3 Koula
4 Garrick
5 Faulalo
6 Brooks
7 DCE
8 Paseka
9 Simpkins
10 STKO
11 Hamouli
12 Burbo
13 Jazz
14 Brown
15 Aloiai
16 Bullemor
17 Jake / Navale
18th Man Turbo

Seriously love the Turbos but something just isn't right with them and lucky to make the 18 man squad for me.

Saab also..just didn't look fit or confident.. was in space the other night and most of the Titans back line had him covered.
