Interesting that Hooper suggests another Moses managed coach is likely to join Manly to replace Flanno.

I wonder who that narrows it down to?

Manly Sea Eagles hit back at Isaac Moses accusations, release player agent breakdown

Manly Sea Eagles have taken an extraordinary step to quash accusations that a powerful agent has gained influence over the club and its playing ranks.

Manly boss Tony Mestrov has hit out at suggestions the club is beholden to any player agent after taking the extraordinary step of posting its links with management companies on the club’s website.
The Sea Eagles have been on the receiving end of a slew of criticism that they are in the grip of powerful agent Isaac Moses, who manages coach Anthony Seibold as well as a handful of players at the club.

However, Manly revealed on their website that Moses’ Cove Agency only has five players on the club’s books, two less than Mario Tartak’s Crown Sports International and Daniel O’Loughlin from Wasserman.

Mestrov insisted the club was committed to spreading their links with management companies, although Tartak’s numbers may be on the wane as the Fainu brothers - Samuela and Latu - edge towards a decision on their futures.

The brothers are expected to make a call later this week with the Wests Tigers the clear frontrunners to secure the duo. The Dolphins were believed to be interested in the brothers but it is understood they have backed off in recent days.

The Bulldogs have also spoken to the pair, although the close ties between Tartak and Tigers recruitment boss Scott Fulton has given them a clear-cut edge in negotiations.

“Obviously the club wants to have a healthy balance of player agents,” Mestrov said.

“We won’t be controlled by any player agents. There are some misconceptions that we are controlled by one company.

“It’s just not true. We want to put that misconception to bed by showing the even spread of player talent and player agents.”

The Sea Eagles have become increasingly frustrated with talk about the purported influence of Moses, who is widely regarded as one of the most powerful agents in the game.

The club’s biggest names - the Trbojevic boys and Daly Cherry-Evans - are managed by SFX Sports and Joe Wehbe’s Ignite Sports. Tartak also wields significant influence at the club through his management of Josh Schuster and Haumole Olakau’atu.

Moses’ representation at Manly includes Aaron Woods, Ben Condon, Cooper Johns and Ethan Bullemor. The Sea Eagles also signed another Moses client Matt Lodge to a train and trial deal last week.

Lodge only has a deal for this season, although the club is open to extending his deal if he produces over coming weeks.

Two of three players Manly have signed for next season are managed by Moses in Wests Tigers duo Luke Brooks and Tommy Talau. The other - Jaxson Paulo - is looked after by Wasserman’s Nash Dawson.

Spoonbold and the Broncos, now Manly spiral has clearly started.
How stupid our club is.

When Seibold initially signed at the Manly in November last year, the Sea Eagles only had one Moses client on their books in Ethan Bullemor.

Yet in the nine months since out of the eight players the Sea Eagles have signed – six have been Moses clients.

I don't have an issue with Manly's release. It serves a purpose. But it may suggest we haven't finished with the Moses player signings just yet as well. He does have over a 100 clients I guess.

And most absolute rubbish, who wouldn't make almost any other top 17 (Condon, Johns, Woods etc) - now Bullemor dropped. Flanagan who's literally taking the piss here.

Manly have been slammed for a “bizarre PR stunt” that has only heightened scrutiny on a growing player agent trend that looms as a “concern within the game”.
As the Sea Eagles tinker with their 30-man squad, eyebrows have been raised in some quarters over the increasing number of players at the club who are managed by leading player agent Isaac Moses.

Moses also manages Manly coach Anthony Seibold and now manages five players on Manly’s books — with the addition of Luke Brooks and Tommy Talau to make that seven next season.

Aaron Woods, Matt Lodge, Ben Condon, Cooper Johns, Luke Brooks and Tommy Talau have all joined or are set to join Manly since Seibold’s arrival. Ethan Bullemor was the only Moses client at Manly last year

A high concentration of players linked to one manager has sparked fears it could wreck Manly in the future, similar to what happened at the Brisbane Broncos when Anthony Seibold was in charge there.

The Sea Eagles decided to respond to the scuttlebutt by releasing a statement with a list (see below) of the player management agencies working with the club, “to avoid any misconception”.

Braith Anasta labelled it a “bizarre PR stunt” on NRL 360, and his fellow panellists agreed.

Player agent Isaac Moses manages a quarter of Manly’s roster.
News Corp’s Paul Crawley said: “The club has come up with the dumbest idea ever to put out this statement. If it’s not an issue, why make it an issue.

“They’re ignoring the fact when Seibold first arrived there was one Isaac Moses client, Ethan Bullemore. Now there’s five, next year there’s going to be seven. On top that, there’s three members of the coaching staff, although Flanno’s (Shane Flanagan) leaving at the end of the year. You’ve got the new head of recruitment.”

“You didn’t have to be a fortune teller to see this was coming. Seriously. We’ve known for ages that it’s getting there and then today they come up with the plan to put a statement to try and deny it’s true.

“If you look at the power base at Manly, the Isaac Moses clients aren’t exactly what you’d call top of the tree. The issue becomes you’ve only got 30 spots on your roster and if you’ve got quarter of it tied up, it’s draining your salary cap, it’s filling up a large portion. That’s a quarter of the 30-player roster next year managed by him.”

Anasta added: “That’s the concern — if he has his hands all over a certain squad or team, it may be detrimental to the club.

“What’s even more concerning is if they aren’t top of the tree in terms of class, you don’t want seven or eight of them, do you? Because then you get flooded by players that maybe shouldn’t be there.”

David Riccio added: “It’s seen as a concern within the game.

“It’s not a picking on Isaac Moses, it’s a concern when a single manager has influence over how many players or staff you have at one club.

“We saw it with Isaac at the Broncos and Anthony Seibold, which led to suggestions it brought down the Broncos and their contract failures.

“As far as PR control, I do not understand this strategy at all. We’re at a point in time in the season where Manly fans want to know how the footy team is going to fire up and make the finals.

“Not put press statements out about how many players are managed by who. I just don’t understand the strategy about putting a spotlight on an issue that you don’t want to be an issue.

Broncos legend Gorden Tallis said Moses may have all the power in his relationship with Seibold because he helped him land the Manly coaching gig after leaving Brisbane.

“It comes from the coach’s insecurities,” Tallis said.

“He was on the chopping block and he couldn’t get a job and he feels loyal to the manager that got him a job. It’s simple.

“What he (Moses) did at Brisbane was really poor and Seibs was under a lot of pressure there.

“He sits in no-man’s land and he gets a job. So he’s going to feel like he’s got to repay the guy that got him a job. That’s just human nature.”

Manly are fighting to make finals.
Manly currently sit 11th on the ladder and are battling to make finals this year without the injured Tom Trbojevic.

Lodge has been named on the bench in Manly’s side to face Cronulla on Sunday after the Roosters discard was given a train and trial contract.

The facts are Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold is managed by Isaac Moses. Moses also negotiated the deals for Seibold’s assistant coaches Shane Flanagan and Jim Dymock to land on the northern beaches.

Moses also did the deal for Manly’s new head of recruitment Peter Gentle – one of rugby league’s genuine good guys.

Gordon Tallis ripped Spoonbold a new asshole.. I'm starting to warm up to Tallis.

You mean the bloke who broke the rules of the day and sat out a year rather than honour a contract. Then publicly criticized DCE for not honouring a contract (despite breaking no rules of the time) and declared he’d never play for Qld again. And now sings the praises of the Qld captain every chance he gets, along with the other Qld hypocrites. Think I’ll still give him a miss.

Can someone spell out what the problem is here exactly? eg Manly signed Copper Johns, big deal, he was on peanuts and didn't work out and won't be here next year.

Are people suggesting we will only sign Moses clients from now on? Paulo is not Moses nor are some of our high profile players who have recently re-signed.

In fact Moses doesn't manage any of our top players. Seibold has a contract at Manly, so why would he jeopardsise his coaching future by signing players he doesn't want?

I'm sure someone can explain the big fears to me, thanks in advance.

Whats the big deal....Fox/News Ltd singling out club by club in retaliation of the player boycott. Really poor journalism in the last few weeks, but then again, when is it good. Hopper is just a f#ckwit
I agree with most of what you’ve said

But in terms of the big deal, the stupid actions from management yesterday releasing this article have made it into a big deal, and given the leeches some fresh blood to hold onto and drain
