This or Andrew Davies. Also opens up an interesting opportunity for Des to "trial" Jake in that 2nd row (left side) and still play 3 big bonkers down the middle. Jake is unquestionably our best ball player in the forwards and has that amazing link with Tom out wide. I feel he is wasted in that lock / middle position and can be better utilised.Think Bullemor will get the start
If Walker is selected at 14 again, his ball playing in the middle becomes more important with Schuster missing.
Yes that is some consolation. It will give the various forwards jostling for spots an opportunity to stake their claim, whether that's Lawton or Davey, or Bullemor, Boyle, Sipley. Even Ben T although he surely is down the pecking order at the moment. If you are gonna get an injury better this time of year where the first 4 weeks or so are not 'on the clock'. Bit like what Tommy has done the past seasons.
If last season showed us anything its how you finish not how you start. And backrower is one spot we have some cover.
I remember in the period when Schuster was injured (for several weeks after Rd 11 v Eels), Walker regularly was a link or ball played on the left edge.Walker can ball play as he showed in 2019 but in his 2021 bench role he's mainly there to be a dynamic runner.
Harry Feathered friendDevils advocate in me says…
Foz was definitely good enough last year as our halves were better than most
and…
It was largely the inexperience of our forwards and backline that let us down in the big games, rather than one player / scapegoat
Time will tell as it usually does feathered friendOkay .. get ready to gang up .. line up numbnuts ..
I have a strong belief that Schuster, as good as he is, will never be our best 5/8 or our best 2nd rower..
He will always be a big part of the team.. but controversy over where to play him will continue until he retires..
The fact is ...I believe we still have Dargen on a train n trial contract too. Another injury to a half and he might be getting a call up.
It really exposes how light we are in the play making positions. Segeyaro isn't far away from a start either.
Foz Best days are Behind him and Schuster Best days are ahead of him
But... Segeyaro's best days are behind him whereas Croker's best days are ahead of him!The specialist Sageyaro at his best is a more potent Hooker than the makeshift Croker .
