Seeing that the other thread titled will Kelly improve has been locked I thought I'd comment here rather than creating new one..

Recent article posted about Shaun Lane includes some details on how young Kelly has been working on his defence. That's what is getting me excited because if he improves this part of his game he will be a gun.

Kelly has also worked hard on his defence in pre-season after missing 67 tackles last year.

I'm learning a few better technical ways for better contact,'' he said.

"(Assistant coach) John Cartwright has helped me along with a few of the wrestling coaches."

I only watched the second half but Kelly had a blinder. Showed some grace scoring in the corner with phenomenal ball handling. Very deceptive. Also saved a deadset try that kept us in the game. Hope he can continue this form and build on that performance.

He had a roller coaster of form last year, so hopefully this year he can put in performances like tonight all season.

He's got great hands. Very deceptive and nifty. So happy that his defence has improved. That's made a huge difference imo.

I think he brings deception and amazing footwork to our side. You can't teach what Brian's got. He will become one of the game's best centres in the NRL.

Best thing I like is his toughness, copped a head knock and still helped Thompson drag an Eel into the grandstand.
Plus made great reads and closed down the rare raids they had...also does some ugly hit ups to get Manly out of danger and on the front foot.

Great games from Kelly two weeks in a row, good signs. Much improved in defence with Taufua beside him, looks better in every department
