Agree. Even If u take your manly hat off he would be insane to go to the eels. Understand he has a strong relationship with Brad Arthur however he would be far better off going to dogs or roosters for unders even thou we'd prefer him to be at the eels. He would be happier on and off the field.

It's so unstable at Parra. The biggest issue is the constitution and the elections which is not fixed at all. The current board is a mess, there is no ceo, they have major salary cap dramas and have a history of destroying players which will potentially reduce his next contract.
I woiuldn't be surprised if the eels increase their offer to foran now just to make sure that he stays. He is in a position that he can screw them for more money

THe statement foran released on Monday about parra tells me that he has no intention to going there. You don't make a public statement like that, dumping on the club, if you're interested in maintaining a relationship with them. It was a PR job to pave the way for him walking away. And thats understandable cos he is rolled gold insane if he goes to that basketcase club. He should be thanking his lucky stars that he has been given a golden opportunity to renege without any damage to his overall reputation.
Exactly. I could not agree more.

Especially after Sterlo's "whatever it takes" line.

If that is the case then technically he is a free agent and can negotiate with any other club. If they have pulled the original contract, which he agreed to and signed, off the table then why can't his manager approach other clubs and officially state Foz is now a free agent. So far all we have heard is Manly have attempted to encourage him to stay but no formal offer has been put forward. How can the Eels come back with an amended contract, incorporating removal of the said clauses which have caused a concern, AND increase the offer? Didn't he originally agree on the monetary terms. They can't come back and offer more money as a bribe. This is a NEW contract altogether not a revised contract to the original.

Watching Sterlo's interview with Steve Sharp was uncomfortable viewing. If Forum had 5 min in a room with Sterlo he'd be signed up with Parra, but having to place his trust in the remainder of the board over there, can't see it happening. Steve Sharp looked well and truly out of his depth as a head of a major sporting club within the country.

If Foz was genuine about making a decision for his family in the first instance then the same reasoning would mean that you wouldnt go near Parra now.

I'd like him to stay with us, would be concerned about paying DCE money to someone with a number of injuries, think though that he will end up somewhere else.

Geez you'd think his love of BA would have seen them simply strike out the clause and resubmit the contract - done deal. What is taking so long?

The story goes that Foran was not aware of the clause in a contract he actually signed 😱 So he agreed to wipe it, if Parra agreed to a new clause that he can walk if the Dalai is not there. Parra are debating as we speak 😎

Oh, and as Parra now think that 1.2 is too much, they actually asked him to accept 4.2m 😕 What idiot would agree to reduce his legally binding contract? It can't be the best deal for his family.
Parra have got balls, to even suggest this, to a much in demand player @

Foran's Manager met with the NRL to get a Cap dispensation for him for 2016. He rightly stated that every Sydney Club had by rd 13 comitted their Cap, so his Client has been denied taking himself to the open market.

So if the original contract stood and fozzy walked out Parra would pay him 1 mill and it would have to count against their cap? Way to draw up a contract Parra.

You know why it happened..?

No, if he had gone there in 16, his 1m would count against their 16 Cap.
But, incredibly, if he then walked out, his damages of 1m would count against their 17 Cap!!
You could not have scripted this better, unless BoChocs was the one who negotiated with Foran's Manager

Alternately, Foran could just say on 31 October that he will not even bother to go. Then Parra would only be down 1m and it would be against their 16 Cap @

Just back from a week in the internet Wilderness and HOLY ****BALLS what the heck is going on here ??

Just read the last page of this and I gather the Eels have reneged on his contract and he's a free agent.

If so surely we can't afford him as well as Cherry, and if we can does it mean that we have a weak pack just to afford him??

Can someone save me some reading and shorten it to one post??

The dip ****s at the eels registered a second contract that was different to the one that Foran signed. A number of key conditions were changed .....

Welcome back Mark. Well its like this..... come to think of it I have no idea.
Parra could not register original contract that was signed by both parties. The NRL (apparent) did not accept the clause that if Foran left Parra would have to pay him $1m. Parra front NRL with 2 contracts. The second (unsigned by Foran) did not have the clause in it and was for $4,2m (that is a drop from $4.8m). It appears Foran agreed to the clause being dropped, he said he did not know it was in there. He can walk away from the contract as not honoured. His manager and Parra still trying to sort out how much to pay him.

Manly think they can come up with a long term contract that he may accept.

I think he will be at Parra next year and be paid somewhere between $4.8 and $4.2m for 4 years.
The Parra CEO was sacked over contract so he is 100% to blame (yeah right).

A great story ... in the end it will just have wasted trees to print papers

Welcome back Mark

That's funny - you must have got the shock of your life.

Parra proved to Foran that they area absolute basket care and now he is thinking through his options. Problem is all other clubs have now filled their roster so there is no money left for him. Reading through the lines he obviously doesn't really want to go to the eels now however he may not have a choice if he wants to be paid 1.2 a season.

Not that I have ever coached at NRL (or any) level, but I would feel really uncomfortable if a player demanded a clause in their contract, that I had to be coach or else they would walk. Surely you would want to be judged on your own record and not put one of your players in the position where they are effectively blackmailing the club on your behalf. Not fair on the player involved and not a good reflection on your character for allowing it.
At the end of the day, I think if Foran doesn't go to Parra, Arthur will not see this year out.
