The God Debate

Why are we here for such a limited time??

What are we suppose to achieve in the little time we have on earth??

That is simple my friend and answered last night on Catalyst

To procreate!

What's the meaning of life guys??

int he famous words of Douglas Adams

is'nt it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe there are fairys at the bottom of it too?

In other words, why does it need a meaning

And that question is exactly why religion was invented my friend

Man, thats where.

Men seek power, no matter original intentions men will continue to seek power. I would say society is the biggest problem rather than Religion.

This is why the 1984 model would work somewhat because there is no longer a way to change classes, people stop seeking power.

If as people we didnt have an urge or drive to better our position and control then we wouldn't have the eveils of religion.

You will find that matabele and I actually agree about organised religion, we both despise it because it has become corrupt by the men who preach it

I will say Dawkins came across as close-minded last Sunday in 'Root of all Evil'. The fact that I almost agree with everything he says doesn't hide the fact that he was arragant, rude and pushy with church elders, despite his claims that he is not. He is not exactly my idea of the cause's champion.

He is arrogant. He knows it and states it.

Church Elders?
**** man they deserve respect why?
This is part of the point of what Dawkins goes on about, why do we not challenge religion and its "elders"?

why he sees them as idiots and rightly so he has reasoned and intelligent discussion they have ideas of faith

I love this thread.

Its almost as entertaining as watching one of those Westboro Baptist Church videos.

Exactly CW. Dawkins makes a stunning pre-supposition (from what I've seen) that completely defeats his works.

A little like stating that Souths were 2006 Premiers and then going on to argue why they're the best team.

The funny thing is that I don't believe in the God that Dawkins doesn't believe in either!!!!

That statement quite clearly shows how little you understand his deabte.

Dawkins and a lot of others use the word god, but not in a supernatural sense
Essentially Dawkins argument is against a "supernatural" god. He rather instead see's nature as "god"

You guys do a lot of finger pointing and belief bashing without actually reading it or listening to him. What you know of Dawkins are cherry picked quotes taken out of context. Like I have said

Read the book then we will discuss it. I am up to chapter 2
