The Daly Cherrygraph

No doubt clubs are going to be a little hesitant in signing a 37 year old halfback who cannot tackle anymore and can have some good games but can also have some absolute shockers.

If he wasn’t DCE some of his performances this year would have had him hooked straight from the field at any club or team including Ron Massey cup and stamped never to play again.

A bit harsh.

It's very tiring isn't it. Hoping a player downgrade will actually make the team better overall. Go fugure
tend to agree about the downgrade but, in the end, it is what it is... Chez is gone and Fog was a decent option given what was available...
I (like you) do not have a great deal of hope that the team improves but happy that others do and will be pleasantly surprised if I am wrong...

What about the 200-300k saved on Fogarty that can be used to improve the rest of the squad? Dare I say if we gave $CE the money he wanted we likely don't end up with Hetherington and/or Moale. Then factor in having a stable half that doesn't overplay his hand or play as erratically as the one we've had for the last 15 years (no back-to-back finals in the last 10 of those btw) and that should lend to more consistent performances across the board. Comparing the two directly as if they are on the same salary or play the same way is such a simplistic view.

Well the backend boys will need their money and others will need upgrading. $200-300k won't go far.

At this point it's easier to just name the players he hasn't clashed with...
All of the former players who had died before he made his first grade debut in 2011.

This from the SMH:

‘DCE a Shark?
One of the hottest rumours doing the rounds this week was Daly Cherry-Evans joining Cronulla, and the Manly halfback made sure he had some fun with it by making a beeline for Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon at the Dally Ms.

Sharks officials said it was not happening, unless DCE was prepared to play for around $150,000 a year. For the record, the NRL confirmed Cherry-Evans will not feature in Sunday’s parade for retiring players. He will be at the Goosters…maybe (my editing).’

Instead of “having some fun”, let’s call it being an insufferable c-nt. Still disrespecting the club that had set him up for life before the age of 30.

What a contemptible arsehole.
