I started a thread years ago saying we have the worst halfback in the NRL. I could see that this bloke would have a few very good games followed by a lot of ordinary games. A halfback who is getting a mil a season should be able to close out games but failed miserably on many occasions.I don’t understand all this criticism of DCE now appearing regularly in this thread. What were you people watching for the last 6-7 years ? This isn’t a 2025 thing. It’s been obvious for a long time that he doesn’t have the ability to lead us to a premiership. Which in itself is ok, other than we were stupid enough to sign him up as THE highest paid player in the game which hamstrung our ability to put enough talent around him to make up for his shortcomings. Result of which was 10 years of mediocrity and DCE banking plenty of cash for going through the motions.
Should have cut him loose 2 years ago when we had the chance, but now the time has finally come I can’t wait.
Maybe he's a projected Hologram. His heart stopped beating some weeks/months ago.

you nailed it mate, so sad that ordinary people can see DCE shortcomings from years back , however our highly paid managment cannot ???I started a thread years ago saying we have the worst halfback in the NRL. BTW I posted that thread in 2018
[Resurrected] Thread 'DCE is the worst halfback in the NRL'
This bloke needs to take ownership of the performances. He can't seem to lead or organise the team around the park. For all the big dollars he's being paid we're not getting much return. Everyone will come out and say it's because he hasn't got a decent no6. Other halfbacks have done much better than DCE.

Absolutely he is a great defender. This pile on from fans and the media doesn't take into account the amount of space around cherry when these tackles were missed. The inside defender didn't bother getting across and there was so much space that most quick players would have beaten cherry. Just remember that, while Ethan Strange is a good player, he would have under normal circumstances ran into Haumole's right shoulder when he stepped back on his left. I suggest only once. His heart stopped beating some weeks/months ago.

He has been rushing out of the line making it virtually impossible for his edge forwards and centres for ten years. It is and has been our greatest defensive issue for a decade.Absolutely he is a great defender. There’s a shred of truth in this; of course he should have had a defender tight on his inside but watch the play again and you’ll see the ruck speed was significant, paired with Fog going deep into the line. DCE can’t help all that, but…Absolutely he is a great defender. This pile on from fans and the media doesn't take into account the amount of space around cherry when these tackles were missed. Nothing like a bit of comedy to start the day... "great defender" 🤣🤣🤣 classic.Absolutely he is a great defender. Let’s face it there’s good reason why at almost 37 he’s hardly had an injury to mention. There’s a shred of truth in this; of course he should have had a defender tight on his inside but watch the play again and you’ll see the ruck speed was significant, paired with Fog going deep into the line. He can choose to put his body on the line within the context of what’s happening around him and it’s an undeniable fact that he could get to Strange; however, he chose to meekly stick an arm out instead of using his body to stop Strange’s momentum.
I don’t think people are up in arms about the try being scored; Strange is lethal in those scenarios. What people are upset about, is the arm grabbing. It’s poor. It’s not just Manly fans either; it got a run in the media too.
Finally, if he was a ‘great defender’, he wouldn’t be a spot defender in so many coaches’ game plans. OK, he’s made some excellent tackles on some big humans over the years but he’s also made a career out of meekly holding on the lead runner and showing no desperation to push off and protect his edge.
I think it shows how much of a popularity contest life is, and ST is no different. I used to believe i came here to talk footy but his cheer squad has tried to contain footy talkI don’t understand all this criticism of DCE now appearing regularly in this thread. Ah yes, this seems so long ago now. The crazy DCE - Gold Coast bidding war debacle, throw in Foran into the mix as well. A moment of insanity, that has led us to where we are now.I don’t understand all this criticism of DCE now appearing regularly in this thread. What were you people watching for the last 6-7 years ? We do , but he has a right to complete his last year and try and get us as low as he can on the ladder 😂😂😂 wouldn’t you sayBull**** Ritchie on NRL360 last night "The fans want D$E gone"
You have credit mark, no apologies required , quite a few others thought the same. The same weaknesses in his game and culture are the same things many harped on about for years@Chip and Chase @jbb/james
I hope you accept my sincere apologies , I couldn’t see what you were seeing for years and to be honest thought you were just both , anti the guy.
But looking back , after the events of recent months and being reminded yesterday of that piss poor performance in the 21 Prelim final by @susan I can see you were all right , the whole time.
I’m sorry I doubted you.
Yes I’m not alone , in fact the bulk here feel ( maybe felt ) the same way.You have credit mark, no apologies required , quite a few others thought the same. The same weaknesses in his game and culture are the same things many harped on about for years
Its always been about him and this forum supported that at times. Funny how we needed to build a team around DCE as he is the man, but he was never accountable
I think cronk losing his job and DCE coming in has opened old wounds with commentators suddenly seeing he plays crazy eyes
You shouldnt forget the storm semi final in 21 either. Check out that game for dce moments . No composure whatsoever. The souths game shouldnt be isolated . He was consistent. . The bull**** last option play with oku after a long walker break was amateur
While his form is pretty bad, i do think its pile on DCE time because of his unpopularity. Honestly…….gardeners leave is best for all. He gets covidYes I’m not alone , in fact the bulk here feel ( maybe felt ) the same way.
