There’s an advisory board of sorts , the football club had a seat , but it’s more reporting what’s going on than deciding anything. I think it’s only due to the Football Club that they even bother.

Really dirty on the coaching part , would have thought he might have had ideas about coaching Manly . I will be glad to move him on he has been a huge distraction at the club in my opinion.

Slightly adjacent story but worth telling ...

I used to work in the Packer Park Street building up on the eleventh floor. Traveling down in a well populated lift after work one day, the doors open at the 8th floor and in comes a handyman who starts a tirade against Packer and everything he does wrong and what he'd tell him to do if he ever got the chance.

Yep. Lift doors open at the notorious 3rd floor and there is the man himself. The entire life burst out laughing except, of course, the handyman. Kerry looked pretty stunned but quickly transformed that into a wry grin and "I've never been greeted like that before", which everyone had a rather sheepish giggle about.

He got in and, as you might imagine. Silence the whole way down. Not a word from the handyman who couldn't wait to scurry out onto the street as soon as the lift doors opened.

Very typical , people are great at slagging off at others , but rarely would they do it face to face.

On the flip side we did all get these massive Christmas hampers from him every year. Two eskies full of every xmas need you might have, including ham, turkey, wine, champagne, cake, pudding. One of the oddities about him, he didn't have to do it.

Back to the thread topic - there's no way DCE would give out xmas hampers!

Half of the group who were already in the side when he became a first grader seem to think he's a selfish knob, and I wouldn't be surprised if half the current playing group do too.

He probably has the brains but he doesn't have the people skills to be a coach, especially not at Manly.

The Chickens have a long history of taking a Manly great for their last year. Manly have a long history of knowing when a great players last year for Manly should be. Let's hope history repeats.

Maybe, I certainly don't know anybody's private opinions or what has gone on behind closed doors, only what can be inferred from what has been said publicly.

What are Politis's connections to Channel 9? How's he able to lure DCE (and others) with sweetners to Channel 9? What's his involvement there? Does have he a stake/share/etc with channel 9? (genuinely curious).

That bloke who punched Packer Jnr who used to run 9 is on their board. It was also the reason the ex-cowboys half Chad Townsend joined them this year for purely media connections. Apparently it’s a thing.

IMO Uncle Nick, who's been know to hunour handshake deals,has painted himself into a corner so he has to recuit dce, but only for a year, to save face and hand him a coahing gig, because he's trying to stop the exodus on some of his younger halves.

Had Nick waited another 6 months there would be no handshake deal because the young halves of S.Smith and Savala were going great

Yes, from the stories I’ve read/heard, as long as you didn’t get in his crosshairs, he was kind and generous to a fault. A great Australian when that meant something.

And no, I don’t see DCE as a Xmas hamper kind of guy. Don’t think he’ll be receiving many this year either.
