Hopefully from a great height. If DCE had a shred of humility he would have ruled himself out of rep football this year. He has put himself in this situation, and left Slater with no option but to drop him.
CorrectAnd IMO the only reason he can "afford" to do it so to speak, is because he's already signed with the Chooks. He doesn't have to worry about Uncle Nick suddenly getting cold feet over his growing poor form.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.Correct
Poor uncle Nick.. getting what he deserves an over priced has been who really never was..
I hope Uncle Nick chokes on the c#$ks he's so used to sucking at the Oxford St bath house he frequents..
😂🤣😂🤣
And, dare I say, shredded his arroganceIf DCE had a shred of humility he would have ruled himself out of rep football this year. He has put himself in this situation, and left Slater with no option but to drop him.
Yep, for the sake of what now looks like one extra SOO game, he has burnt his final bridge. Could have said at that famous channel 9 announcement that he is moving on, but remained committed to helping Manly win a premiership this year, and to prove it, he is retiring from SOO. To remain available after that announcement shredded his last chance to salvage something from the wreckage of his Manly career. And, dare I say, shredded his arrogance
I don’t disagree about Dearden not really being a compelling alternative, but I just think Billy is feeling the pressure and has to do something. If he sticks with DCE and they lose again, the knives will be out for him.TBH, even though his personal form this year has been inconsistent at best, if I was Slater I imagine I'd still pick DCE for SOO2. Is there really a compellingly better choice? I'd be thinking at least he is very experienced and he knows what it is to carry the main load in a clutch SOO game.

If you watch NRL360, you might have heard that idiot Brett Read say that pick n stick only applies when you are winning. Didn’t occur to him that pick n stick only has relevance as a concept when you are losing. If you’re winning, it is completely irrelevant.Rock and a hard place for Slater. Drop DCE and our "mythic" pick and stick is destroyed in an instant and all that laughing we did at NSW for pissing their pants at the selection table will be back to bite us hard. Either way we're staring down a 3-0 series loss.

… I hope slayer picks him ….. Cause I’m a blues supporter! He's barely playing well enough to hold down a first grade spot at Manly and you think Slater should pick him??
I don't think that's quite true, during their glory days QLD had many of their key players savagely out of form for their club but would get picked for Origin anyway (Gagai is the epitome of this, to the point where it has become a meme). If you watch NRL360, you might have heard that idiot Brett Read say that pick n stick only applies when you are winning. I'd pick Dearden over DCE in a heartbeat if I were Slater, and I would have in Game 1 too.TBH, even though his personal form this year has been inconsistent at best, if I was Slater I imagine I'd still pick DCE for SOO2.
