Hmmm, but his behaviour come first, not the club's reaction.

As is often said, we shouldn't blame others for our own actions
I will agree to disagree

For me there is a part of a parent with a spoilt child complaining about the behaviour that their actions have created.

Lot of mythology around the DCE/Manly old guard conflict.
A young star demands more money...
The established stars prefer more contracts for their good mates.

Hindsight says ...

Glenn Stewart (one of my favourite Manly players, and someone I wish would take up coaching) probably was best suited to head off to English super league when the NRL refused Manly's attempt to sign him on a very low deal for 2015

As we know, instead he bashed out a few games for Souths that year but was never a factor, before belatedly heading to super league in 2016 for a couple more (average) seasons.

Someone might argue it would have been a mistake for Manly to prioritise a 31yo Gift, clearly past his best and on the way out, over a young star half.

Were Gift's mates thinking of Manly's best interests when they wanted him to stay? Was he thinking of Manly's best interests? Someone might suggest no, they were all thinking about what they'd like best, namely to keep playing with their good mates.

Different sorts of selfish?

I think they're all great guys and Manly legends but none of them are perfect - repeat, none of them are perfect!! and I bet Keiren Foran would say something very similar (And by all reports he's still good mates with DCE).

Our Club do stuff some things up, but one thing Manly seem to get right most of the time. Is when a long time club legend should hang up the boots.

DCE and some fans might not be happy he wasn't offered more years at 1.2 plus million dollars.

I'm just got my doubts the club sees it that way.

Yes, poor old Fatty Vautin being an obvious example.

A parent has the child's lifetime to impact behaviour, positively or negatively.

Are you seriously putting that on manly causing dce to be the spoilt brat you speak of and tell the club/team/watmough he wants more money and is not backing down? Didn't want to train or play. DCE started the agitation before his next contract was finished. How is it manlys fault with the man dce was shaped to be. What was manlys behaviour towards dce that made him act this way?

Cart before the horse I think

No but I am saying that they created the environment where his perceived bad behaviour was rewarded

Threaten to not train = upgrade
Sign with another club = upgrade

I do not think it was only on the club but as much as you can not say the player is without fault you have to say the same about the club

He's not getting picked for SOO mate, barring injury to others.

Dearden and Munster will be first choice.
Hope you're right mave, but can't see the prick not getting picked. After all these years he couldn't at least put everything aside and try and focus on a premiership for the fans in his final year at Manly?! They say a leopard doesn't change its spots... well that's very true with him and I can sympathize with those former players who disliked him. DCE is and always will be about DCE...not his team mates, club or its fans. Whichever team takes him next year, goodluck with the rest of the squad.
