Thank you for expressing what you think fathered friend
You are entitled to that .

Trump is in a position to do so because he was given the opportunity when he was overwhelming and democratically elected by his people
And he is doing what he thinks is best for his people and his country

Trump is also smarter than all those dumb democrats who lost the election on a Land Slide

What Trump has done is illegal.

It doesn't matter WHY he was put in a position to do it, what he did was ILLEGAL.

Insider Trading & stockmarket manipulation is ILLEGAL.

This would have been the perfect thing to do had he not gone on 100% Footy to make his announcement.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, the only way I see it ending is him getting an early release to stop the impact on the team (which may have been his goal all along).
Maybe at year's beginning or before the season started and Manly had an able replacement but really only trying to suggest the most helpful ways now to settle things down and not affect the team 's ability to perform as best as possible ongoing .
Still think that it more down to D C E for the drama or part drama in recent times but priority again ideally to have the side and coaching staff in a good headspace or place and with minimal off field distractions

I’m with you , when so many on here lamblasted him from pillor to post , game after game I supported him 110%.

I have zero ( absolutely zero ) issues with him going to a bigger offer at another club , if he can get a 10 million dollar deal with the Rorters good luck to him , we aren’t one of the rich clubs so in my opinion he’d go with my best wishes. I’d be sad , but I’d understand.

But this disrespectful approach to the fans , regardless of what went on behind closed doors just isn’t kosher.

A “ spiteful narcissist “ is not something I’d have written but it’s very apt.

I think DCE has handled this badly.
He has been a great player and I was expecting him to be a 1 club player and move into a coaching role spending a few decades here.
He is in my top 10 Manly players over the last 50 years.

He keeps saying he is a private person and doesn't like the attention but I think he loves it.
Before the lifetime contract he was shopping himself around and him and his partner seemed to love the media circus of it. Had no issue him trying to chase the dollar as the majority of players do as does the average worker.

Have no issue him chasing a final big contract if he can get it but handle it better.
All he had to say was I'm going on the open market to see what might be on offer for my last contract or said I've decided to head back to Queensland and the Dolphins have made a great offer to help me achieve that.

I'm happy with Mestrov, he has probably been our best boss in over 20 years.
DCE asked for a release and was saying he won't make up his mind until sometime this year, Mestrov apparently respected this but was DCE telling the truth or had he already been speaking to other teams.

I think you’ve nailed it pretty well.

I have zero issue with him taking a big offer elsewhere , it’s a business these days and they aren’t long at the top.

But there’s definitely a better way it could have been handled , given he’s had 15 years with the club.

Oh and he not only loves the limelight , he is the master manipulator at getting as much limelight as he can.

Every single step in the process has been carefully done to achieve maximum results.

600 pages of DCE.. wow!

Random question;

What would people prefer at this point for DCE?

1. Retire
2. Play for another Club so we can smash him 😉
or
3. Try his luck in the Super League

Sadly for DCE, for some of us it might be...
4. Who cares?
He's got the rest of this year to win us back
No matter what he does he won't win me back, for the past 10 years DCE was being paid at least 15% over his true market value which hamstrung our salary cap, now comes the time for him to accept a little less than his market value and at 36 years of age for just two years, he spits the dummy and goes on national TV to air the club's dirty washing, making a mockery of our club, a club that's looked after him for 15 years, he would have ended his career as club legend status, thanks for nothing mate.

Does it bother you that he didn't mention why he hates Manly so much that as soon as his deal is finished he will never play for us again? (Even though he loves playing, and hopes to keep playing NRL and for Qld.)

Oh, he didn't say he hates Manly? No but that question was left hanging in the air like a rancid fart, to the delight of every media hack in the game.
No it didn't SE8 because he never said he hated Manly. Thing is we have no serious idea what motivated his decision as I said. Its all just conjecture. As I said he's a business man who has been contracted for a job. He's done that admirably in my opinion. He has absolutely no obligation to stay with the Sea Eagles. No more than an actor of your favourite TV show suddenly deciding to leave to perform in an alternative show. He's a performer out there entertaining us. I would think its his choice, not ours, to decide what he does next.

The evidence is his appearance on 100% Footy and the ensuing fallout that manifested in a public tit for tat, accusations of a smear campaign and a media firestorm with no winners.

And you know exactly what transpired do you LC. This is his life, not ours You're assuming based on limited information and one of the most important lessons I learned in my job over 34 years was NEVER make assumptions based on limited information because much of the time you will be wrong or misinterpret what is happening.

Seems I've opened a can of worms here.

Let me say this. Most of what I'm reading is emotionally based. Some don't like him, some didn't want him playing for Manly, now some are angry that he's leaving or that he didn't say the right things to soften the blow.

I'm sad that he is going also. I was sad when Bob Fulton suddenly took the cash and played for Eastern Suburbs in 1977. I was sad that Foran left us without explanation other than he was close to Arthur in 2015. But realistically no matter what you want to infer from what DCE said, he has been a champion player for us for approaching 15 years, rarely injured, winning numerous awards, a champion player who held the team together through very rough periods (loss of Foran, salary cap and reduced available monies to maintain the team, Turbo unavailable for 50% of the time, Barrett's inept coaching, a pedestrian backline unable to penetrate, recruitment question marks etc). He has been the one stable element, a player I feel helped Manly avoid the spoon and carry Manly through a disastrous past decade.

He's made mistakes. Every player does. But whether he made the right tactical decisions at times or not, he always tried his hardest. Now he's a pariah because he didn't say how much he loved the club and supporters when indicating he was leaving. He is is my mind the best half we have ever had. Others might say Toovey. But outside of those two there's a big gap to the next. He's one of our best. For me I thank what he's offered greatly and wish him well. I would hope others would remember what he has been for this team. And I really don't care that he didn't say he loved us all. He's a performer to entertain us, not a family member who walked out the door because of who knows what.

Not sure about a can of worms @Bearfax just another of the many & varied opinions that exist about the exit.

I see much of your point , and in some ways don’t disagree.

But I do think you need to acknowledge that many are pissed off with him , our longest standing player , our club captain none the less , for the manner that this has been handled.

As I said way back on page “ whatever it was “ let’s say this happened.

Press conference called , at Brookvale , in a Manly jersey , Daly , maybe his wife & kids ( that would tug on the heart strings big time ) saying this.

*******
I’m announcing today that 2025 will by my last at Manly , we get a short time in our game and I’ve been offered an incredible deal by XXXX club which will evolve two years playing and a 5 year coaching / media contract unable to be matched by any other of the 16 sides.

I’ll be working my backside off for the club that gave me a start and that has been my home for 15 years , a final Premiership would cap off that time magnificently.

To all the fans I know you’ll be sad , maybe upset , but I’m sure you realise you do the best you can for your wife & kids , who are here with me today.

Thank you one and all , now let’s get this job done and I won’t be answering any further questions on the process that’s taken place.

*******

Not a dry eye in the house , no ill feelings , goes out a legend & a winner in everyone’s eyes.

Whilst I do get your points , these are mine , could have been handled much better, REGARDLESS of what went on behind closed doors.

Maybe if people stop saying the same things over and over and over again, we wouldn’t be at 600+ pages. A lot of people keep proposing we all move in, whilst doing the opposite. I’ll start the ball rolling by committing to neither speak, write or think of xxx ever again.

Do you know?

I don't have an issue with him getting paid what manly offered. I don't mind that he may want to leave the club or retire.

A club captain and most capped player, going on TV as a weidler exclusive to advise simply he will retire or play for any club but manly rightly had fans and the media either taking his side, the club's side, or making their own assumptions.

It did nothing but bring the club under fire, and also himself. It is followed up by more Weidler exclusives about how manly treated Daly poorly, which can only have come from his management or direct from the horses mouth.

There was a classier way to announce his intentions without setting fire to the club. From the team captain and most capped player, you'd expect some class and mutual respect, perhaps a joint announcement with the club rather than thinking his news was so important it needed to be a television exclusive and did nothing afterwards to protect the club from the fire directed by media and fans.

I agree people are also caught up in what's he's earnt in the past etc etc, and I have no problem with any player leaving a club, just don't **** at the door on your way out and show some class and respect for his fans who still love the club.

Ps Fulton told the club, had arkos blessing and didn't get a gig on kerry packers channel 9 to tell them he may retire or open to offers from other clubs but will not play for manly, and enable people to cast assumptions about his leaving or treatment from the club.
