The Daly Cherrygraph

Spud is 100% right
And im sure there are many other ex Manly players filthy at just how DCE has handled all this.. it's totally disrespectful to the club and the fans.
Many are not saying anything because they love the club just like us fans they become Manly to tyne core, they don't want to destabilise this season any more than DCE already has.
We are talking about a bloke who won premierships with us..bled for the jersey and regardless of what Bozo says about Spud wanting the cash.. Spud is still Manly to this day regardless of who else he played for.
That for me tells me the guy more than qualifies to have his say and be respected.
F@#k DCE he will go and he will be forgotten, he's shown he's true colours and they never were Maroon And White.
So yes he's tarnished his legacy in the way he's conducted himself at present.
And come the end of the season I think you will find many a "real" Manly player will have exactly the same thoughts and words as Spud.
I saw Spud (NRL tonight) talk about the DCE issue on the Tuesday night after the announcement on Monday night, and if anything he was disappointed in the club and wondered what went wrong and why did management drop the ball on this one.
Fast forward a week and Spud has now changed his tune, he's obviously seen the DCE carry on and spoken to people close to the club who knows the facts.
Spud is no mug, he's come out now because it's clear to him that DCE had been deceitful and not only that he's trying to further damage the club on his way out.
ANY REAL MANLY person wouldn't put up with that s@#t.

Who knows, given his childish games he plays with the media. I
The childish games perceptive ....
A game is played by two
This one is played by Mestrov and DCE
Mestrov game was to shut the Negotiation case before it turned into a circus
But Instead Mestrov played mind games with DCE and turned this into a TCN 9 V NRL 360 games that both Mestrov and DCE were part of .
Good Diplomatic Negotiators close cases in house and Mestrov failed to achieve this
If Mestrov had any foresight he would have learned from the past and knew his client was money motivated .
If Mestrov had any foresight he would have known that there is a shortage of Elite halves and Elite halves are worth Elite dollars
If Mestrov had any foresight he would have known that the club was never going to offer DCE the Elite dollars he was after
If Mestov had any foresight he would have fronted the Media with DCE and thanked his for his great contribution to the Manly club and say regretfully the club could not give him the elite money contract he deserves due to salary cap restrictions
Mestrov does not have the diplomatic finesse of other competent CEO's

Bozo you really need to take your QLD maroon coloured glasses off mate. As far as i can tell, most people here (and presumably across the fan base) aren’t annoyed that he’s going somewhere else for more money - if that’s even the case??? Who knows, given his childish games he plays with the media. Its how he’s going about it that annoys us. That my feathered friend, is what James Graham is alluding to. DCE needs to shut up and play football to the best of his ability for the remainder of his VERY LUCRATIVE contract. And then at seasons end we can say goodbye and goodluck. That’s it. Nothing more nothing less. At the moment, he’s not doing that.
For someone that makes constant references to ‘perspectives’, you sure do a good job of only ever seeing your own!

Hey Bozo - Hope your well my friend
I see many good points you make Bozo....I also feel though ALL players chase the money and so they should in the 10 - 15 year career span on offer, but Spud done things in what many could call "more respectfully" and the "timing" was far different and I feel the way DCE has handled things are what has Spud frothing, not so much he went for a better deal.
This is my last post on THIS situation and hope to discuss DCE in more glowing terms on what he does on the field in 2025.....what he does after that - I'm with Jake T ....who cares, let's get some in 2025.
I hope you are well too my feathered friend and thank you for your reply
You talk about the timing of DCE's announcement and I will talk about whos is responsible
The way it appears Mestrov had shown no foresight to this unnecessary circus saga
He failed both as a good Negotiator and as a good Diplomat
Because Competent Negotiators and Diplomats Keep things in house and sort things in house
and not play mind games that frustrate their client and join them quarreling in a Media tv Frenzy

Enough of this ****TT, STRONGER TOGETHER. Lets win the comp first then we'll talk about it some more. 15 yrs just let him go get some $$$cash for his 4girls to live a good life. He can't play forever, also if he stay he might not want to take $$$dollars from Manly to sign up&comers or another good youngsters. Also he might know already that he only have this year left in him to win the GF so lets just back him STRONGER TOGETHER and after that WHO GIVES A F##@#$$K where he goes.

Spud isn’t claiming to have left a legacy, like some are claiming DCE will leave. His career path doesn’t preclude him from commenting on what may or may not damage DCE’s legacy.
The Great Spud has left a legacy
All Great Manly Premiership Winners do Including the Great Premiership Winning DCE

There is truth in the fact that great Manly side with the Stewart bros, Watmough etc all took less to stay together and win comps. DCE flipped that after winning the comp then making the GF in 2013 and demanded top dollar forcing other players out. Truth in the fact he said he wouldn't show up to training unless he was paid what he wanted. The old saying a Leopard doesn't change his spots is so true in this new DCE episode. I believe Choc even said DCE turned into a ****wit after winning the comp. A feeling many felt and possibly still feel.
At the end of the day, we had a good 15 years out of him. Would it have been good for him to take a cut for the better of the team? Of course! But some people don't think that way and DCE is clearly one of them.

Mate, I am so glad your back buddy

Didnt spud only leave Manly at the beginning of super league

I thought we lost spud, cement, innes, gartner all at once due to
Inflated salaries and no firm guarantee from the ARL, so we was broke and unloaded many

Going off memory

He was as manly as any player i have watched

No surprises there. Mark was always a straight shooter.

I imagine post-DCE punch out, we might hear some more anti-DCE rhetoric from the likes of Max Krilich.
Max Krilich was interviewed on ABC radio last week, might have been the day before the Eels game. He was very calm and measured in his comments, something along the lines of could have been done better, but pointing out Daly's great career playing for Manly, and it's his choice to make. And was confident Manly would be fine after hes gone.
(Possible the DCE post-game presser might have changed his opinion a tad though. It changed mine!)

It does take two to tango and mestrov Needs to take some dancing lessons to sort this one out

Mestrov could Not close the deal or shut down this case and shut DCE as well
Mestrov has been an irrelivant failing CEO at all levels in this contract saga .
And your man , the Dollar Chaser , is completely innocent 😂😂😂😂😂

Guess you believe in the Tooth Fairy , the Easter Bunny AND Santa Claus as well

BOZO ... Metrov has up to 50 other players .. (including talented juniors) .. to worry about fitting into the Budget and retaining ... not just DCE. .. these include players that will be the future of the club for the foreseeable future ... such as Haumole, Bully, Tom, Jake, Lehi, Saab, Garrick, Paseka, Koula, Brooks, Walsh Large etc etc ... plus have room in the salary cap to get a marquee prop ..

If your gripe with Mestrov is that he didn't offer DCE a $1m plus per year for the next 2 years is some kind of failure ...

Then thank the good Lord you're not in charge ... and Mestrov is.

Right on.... the Cap is the fundamental factor in this matter, and Mestrov should have emphasised that from the start.

We have been paying DCE $1 million for the last 10+ years & it hasn’t won us a comp. I’m not sure why people would want more of the same but expect different results, clearly we need something to change if we want to take the next big step.

The club thinks it’s a marquee prop & id agree. While Brown, TKO, Tevaga, Lodge etc have been doing a good job none of them will be here in 2027. It’s ambitious & unlikely but I like that the club are letting it be known the elite front rowers like Haas are our targets. Having no $1million+ deals for DCE, Jake & Tom make this possible

Yeah, but the problem facing Mestrov at the time was, any comment he might have made suggesting they weren't prepared to pay DCE big bucks ... would have grabbed headlines of "disrespecting DCE"

He has been on a hiding to nothing from the beginning.

I’d hazard a guess it was emphasised to DCE from the start and he consequently informed the club he was walking in December. At that point, there was no need for anyone to emphasise anything. However, DCE went rogue on 100% Sport, which ‘smeared’ the club. So Mestrov returned serve with a contract, but Daly was ‘smeared’?!
