The Daly Cherrygraph

I hear what you're saying and makes sense, except that he has access to Nine and their multitude of shows and newspapers and, yep, 2GB.

There's gotta be a point where the club stops caring what numbnuts say. What is it? Manly hates you too
It’s really really time for the club , & us fans , to move on.

He’s leaving , the reasons may remain unknown as we won’t get truth from either side , so let’s just accept it , and look to the future.

He plays on in 2025 and as long as he doesn’t “ dog it “ I won’t be booing ( nor cheering ).

He’s getting paid big dollars to play so just play and shut the **** up!!

Roosters tipped to make brutal demand of Daly Cherry-Evans before signing NRL halfback

The Manly Sea Eagles halfback could be pushed into a major decision if he keeps on playing.

Daly Cherry-Evans' potential move to the Roosters could come with a major demand with NRL great Mal Meninga suggesting he will be expected to give up State of Origin footy if he is to sign a new deal. Cherry-Evans won't play for the Sea Eagles next year having told the club he will move on having joined Manly back in 2011.

Former Manly legend Mark Carroll has vented his frustration with the Cherry-Evans saga after he suggested it could 'tarnish' the halfback's legacy, while the club has come under pressure for letting the veteran walk out the door. And the 36-year-old is expected to sign for a Sydney club, which puts the Roosters in the lead for the halfback.

Probably just 9 holes of Grecian golf to make up the financial loss and everyone's happy.

Manly legend Mark Carroll breaks ranks with explosive new claims against Daly Cherry-Evans

The premiership winner has become the first former Sea Eagles player to condemn DCE.

Manly premiership winner Mark Carroll has broken rank by declaring halfback Daly Cherry-Evans will "tarnish his legacy" by walking out on the club at the end of the year. As the rift at the Sea Eagles between star player and management widens, Carroll is the first ex-player to come out and express his anger and disappointment at the veteran No.7.

He described DCE's decision to announce his exit from the club via a television interview as "piss poor", claiming a number of fellow Golden Eagles feel the same way but are staying silent. And he suggested some current players may not be happy with their skipper.

Jake Trbojevic, Daly Cherry-Evans and Mark Carroll.

No surprises there. Mark was always a straight shooter.

I imagine post-DCE punch out, we might hear some more anti-DCE rhetoric from the likes of Max Krilich.
There will be a few others with "things to say" and I respect Carroll as 100% no BS....but I feel most will have their say after the 2025 campaign, as Manly have a competition they would like to challenge for and too much noise can effect the dressing room.
Spuds rant is genuine and pretty fair, but personally I'm more interested in Manly winning on Sunday against Melbourne.

DCE knows exactly what he is doing, he is actually a master negotiator. He showed with his own contract and in his role in negotiations for the RLPA that he is willing to go all in and risk everyone hating him to get his preferred outcome, DCE will roll around in the mud with pigs if he needs to. Him feeding this rubbish that he wasn't expecting media to go into overdrive and he was naive and thought it would blow over after a day is garbage, he is anything but naive. He went in to CH9 without the clubs knowledge to either start a bidding war or give the illusion he is still undecided to protect his legacy, which he did. All this garbage about Manly not offering contracts, off with the coach and ceo etc is a convenient narrative to allow him to say it's not his fault. He has used his management to give the club vague commitments, pretending to be retiring so Manly left him alone to decide and now through his manager he is using the clubs respect against them, he gets the manager to tell the lies keeping him safe from scrutiny. He want's a million but he knows Manly can't afford to pay it and it will more than likely be with 3rd parties at Roosters or Dolphins so he will be able to pretend he left for less on his contract value and it wasn't about money. I firmly believe the way he ignited more of a media circus calling some random boogie man out for a smear campaign straight after everything went well with the win and the respect he received. He knew that would start the media off again and I believe he did that because he is agitating for an immediate release and he knows the only way is to make himself out to be the victim in an untenable situation otherwise he will look like such an are-soul and for leaving his teammates. He sought a release early last year and the club refused it, now he will play a game of deceit to try and frustrate Manly hierarchy into getting rid of him, misleading fans to protect his legacy. I don't care that he is leaving, but i am angry that he is trying to torch the club on his way out, right when we finally have a chance of winning a premiership.
This theory seems more and more likely, the more DCE opens his mouth and the more the club remains quiet. My advice to the club would be to let him chirp and carry on as much as he likes. He’ll dig his own grave and destroy his legacy in the process. Or if he’s smart enough, he’ll shut up and get on with it. We’ll see.

Spuds rant is genuine and pretty fair,

Was far from a fair genuine one club man as he chased the money and no one should begrudge him for that .
Spud was more loyal to the NRL money Roulette Wheel than any club he played for .

James Graham has his own opinion just like every one that is spilt between who is right and who is wrong
Quote
James Graham said it shows he has always cared more about the money than the club he plays for.
“He (Cherry-Evans) says he felt disrespected because Manly didn’t go up to the level of remuneration he expected and therefore felt disrespected,” Graham said on Triple M’s Sunday Sin Bin.
“But what that says is it is all about money and the fans don’t want to see that.”
End Quote

Perspective time
Bob Fuiton and Ken Arthurson were both motivated by more money when they both left Manly to play else where .
So in James Grahams mind Both Bob Fulton and Ken Arthurson cared more about money than the club .
When Beaver was not offered a contract by Manly the Club cared more about the Money than they cared about Beaver who at the time was injury free and was playing good enough at NRL level and he decided to extend his career else where as he wanted to play on .

The moral the story is ...
In the professional world of sport it is also a business for both club and player
and the money motivation has worked both ways

and I will end my post with this ridicules and naive quote by James Graham
But what that says is it is all about money and the fans don’t want to see that
End quote
Well James , The modern era game is all about money and the fans have been seeing that for years
when their club has moved their favorite players on and their favorite players have moved on from their club beacuse of the money motivator factor

Bozo you really need to take your QLD maroon coloured glasses off mate. As far as i can tell, most people here (and presumably across the fan base) aren’t annoyed that he’s going somewhere else for more money - if that’s even the case??? Who knows, given his childish games he plays with the media. Its how he’s going about it that annoys us. That my feathered friend, is what James Graham is alluding to. DCE needs to shut up and play football to the best of his ability for the remainder of his VERY LUCRATIVE contract. And then at seasons end we can say goodbye and goodluck. That’s it. Nothing more nothing less. At the moment, he’s not doing that.

One thing the club should do after the smear campaign comment then the following press conference which was basically DCE stroking his own ... ego, is make Jake co-captain now and have him show at the post match pressers. The club really doesn't need to give him more air on club time.

Another thing I've been musing on, wouldn't it be funny after DCE going all in on Channel Nine if they lose the rights the year after he retires?
All that would do would be to stoke more media hype and more crap to destabilise the team. Jake is the true captain and heart of this team anyway. Better to let DCE wither on the vine.

Spud isn’t claiming to have left a legacy, like some are claiming DCE will leave. His career path doesn’t preclude him from commenting on what may or may not damage DCE’s legacy.

Hey Bozo - Hope your well my friend
I see many good points you make Bozo....I also feel though ALL players chase the money and so they should in the 10 - 15 year career span on offer, but Spud done things in what many could call "more respectfully" and the "timing" was far different and I feel the way DCE has handled things are what has Spud frothing, not so much he went for a better deal.
This is my last post on THIS situation and hope to discuss DCE in more glowing terms on what he does on the field in 2025.....what he does after that - I'm with Jake T ....who cares, let's get some in 2025.
