The Daly Cherrygraph

Don't quite understand why a club would be shopping a player that was off contract?
Maybe they were gauging interest to base their offer off?

Due diligence… why offer $800K if you know nobody else will give him that? Why offer a 36yo a 2 year contract if you can make it 1 + 1 (in your favour)?

This may all be part of the larger story… I am convinced that Chez lost trust in the club at some point… otherwise he would have given them the opportunity to make their best offer…

Up here in SE Qld, rumours are rife on DCE landing at either Redclife or little Manly on the GC with Dess and Foz. Could be a time warp 2015 backflip possibility...lol.

Do you mean at a junior level or NRL? Juniors I could see but not NRL.
NRL. It's the same arrangement Cronk had with the Roosters (and Melbourne) when he finished up. It's not like he needs to serve an apprenticeship as a serious coach to do some specialty work. It's common place right across the NRL for retired players to mentor future stars. Inglis has been working with Bula at the Tigers, etc.

Does anyone think he is leaving because he felt disrespected by Manly's offer in terms of money or length of contract? That seems to be the narrative spun by 360. Why I find that hard to believe is DCE said he was never offered a contract until last night, says he told us he was leaving in December last year, etc. Where's this lowball deal?

What on earth is Inglis telling Bula lol, "yeah mate just be bigger than the opposition centre and just run over him. Oh wait..."

I think its purey money related we lowballed him and hes been given a massive top up by another club ! I saw through his bullshi7 interview theres already a deal in place

I guess so but that doesn't sound like a long term position and therefore much incentive to stay. It sounds like something Ennis is doing (with the ruck) and isn't that just part time? I don't even remember hearing him say that that was something he was interested in doing - but I could have just missed that. I see him doing what Cronk is doing now and going straight into the media after a short time away with family.

end of the day, he has the most to lose in terms of reputation. Whether it be next year, or the year after - Manly was always going to have to move on from DCE

I have ALWAYS been a big supported of DCE. I believ he has done so so so much right for our club - but I do consider this a stain on the record just in terms of how he went about the process.

ANyways - I am sure there iwll be truth somewhere in between all of these articles and comments... but for now, we have bgreat half, a very good team, and a shot at glory. Lets enjoy the good times, and then celebrate the youth when they get a chance to come through

And as I said in another thred - I have full marks for Mestrov. He's nailing the media piece IMO, and making sure to cover our ar$e$. I like the leadership....

If he wants a premiership the roosters are further away than us. So if he is heading to them as suspected it confirms it is all about the money
Not so sure for next year... they've signed the cowboys #9 and if they get Dce they would have quite the spine... plus I'm sure they will make more bs signings!
