The Daly Cherrygraph

Each to their own but for mine he has...

Both won premierships but Chez has played 90-odd more games for Manly, 15-odd more at SOO and 20-odd more for Australia... Daly is club capt, state capt, won Dally M Medals for Rookie of the year, Halfback of the year and a Clive Churchill...

Snake won an extra premiership but had a better team around him to do so and, obviously, as a fullback he scored more tries... loved snake but Chez is higher on the board when I am drawing it up as I think he has achieved more in the game...

Obviously, it is a totally subjective topic tho as Chez should also be in front of (at least) Des, Beaver, Killer and Cliffy if we are going solely on numbers and accolades....
Snake had a better team for many reasons but taking unders and not overs was a big part

Might surprise a few people but i think DCE is a good club man and deserves plenty of Manly accolades, especially after he retires.

But he isnt the man to lead manly up the ladder
Results prove it,

Top bloke, good footy player, excellent role model, freakish talent , but struggles as a leader and game manager

I am more comfortable if his wage is 850, but do i think he will mature into the player we have been hoping for for at least 5 years. I think not, and rebuilding will not start until he retires as his style too often wastes others toil,

But a manly legend no doubt even if just by longevity.

I can rate my favorite players but tend to leave this ranking or former players stuff alone. Iwould trade him in a heartbeat as our style has mirrored his for a decade , and its a **** style.

Fair enough, its a bit like the player ratings on steroids really... if every ST poster put up their top-10 all time it is doubtful that any 2 lists would be the same...

Yeah forwards never get the glory... Beaver was a special case and Randall was a gun...

Mal Cochran was one of my favourites and blokes like Les Boyd, BK, Phil Daly, Glen Stewart, Nik Kosef and Marty Bella were absolute guns that gave me plenty of awesome memories...

Oh ****,i forgot kosef and glen stewie. Kosef was a gun
Mal cochranes career was too short. Probably the first of the speedy skilful hookers. Had some pace and a nice chip kick

I understand your thinking. But for mine, I'm solely looking at what players have done for manly. Stewart was a mainstay and at the head of our decade of dominance. He was a generational player that brought an abundance of success for the club. On a side note, he would of had far more accolades if it wasn't for those legal issues. He was the face of the NRL at one point, and was in my opinion a better player than slater ( more than likely a future immortal) before injuries.

Look they did not call him The Prince of Brookvale for no reason - the bloke was a gun and I am certainly not trying to detract from anything Snake did...

It was not only the legal stuff, Snake was cruelled many times by injury too...

Slater certainly got in his way from an awards perspective and he was stuck behind Minichello at SOO level (ala Teddy/Edwards)...

Interesting fact - when I was looking to see how many Dally M fullback of the year awards Snake won I was amazed that he never won it - and Minichello only won it once during Snake's career.... winners (2003-2016) were Slater (2), Haynes (2), Inglis, Boyd, Barber, RTS, Bowen, Hodgson, Schifcovski, Teddy... it was not awarded in 2003 for some reason...

I find it incredible (unbelievable?) that Snake could never win it and that many individual winners could finish in front of him over his career despite scoring 168 tries, winning two premierships and being in a lot of finals quality sides...

He was literally the face-to-be for the NRL when that whole legal shemozzle broke. His upward trajectory was cruelled by that whole saga.

I hope this article is true & DCE retires from rep footy after SOO3:

Should Chad Townsend thank Queensland skipper Daly Cherry-Evans for his deal with the Roosters next season?

The signing came out of left-field, and one theory behind it is the Roosters believe DCE will retire from rep footy after next Wednesday night's State of Origin decider.

If that's the case, the Roosters' Sam Walker may well be next man up for the Maroons, leaving the Tricolours short of an experienced playmaker for a large slice of the season.

Townsend is the perfect man to fill that gap, but time will tell.

DJCE?

Today he took some poor options in attack and will he ever run the line. He had 2 opportunities to take on the line but decided to pass it instead of taking the line on inside the Titans 10m zone. 😔

I reckon DCE was mentally fatigued today with the crazy decisions early before all the other leaders (and everyone else) stepped up and carried the load. A nice change.

I’m sure he will be up for the chooks.
That Origin game was absolutely torrid , really in hindsight he shouldn’t have played , but the one thing you have to credit Daly for , he’s bloody loyal to Manly so he wanted to be there to help them win.
