If we thought the wrestle was bad then think again.

The milking of penalties will be the biggest blight on the game for years.
Send them to HIA. The NRL keep saying they are taking head knocks seriously BUT here we have guys laying on the ground "unable" to get up and play the ball and are then allowed to jump to their feet and play on. If the NRL are really serious they should have to assume the player is not milking and is physically unable to get to his feet. Surely this warrants an automatic HIA and it will certainly stop this milking ****!!!

Agree, like the grading and adjudication of head hits .. this milking will be sorted ... onwards and upwards ...

I like it in theory, but its presumed they are victims of foul play
This may just give teams free interchange so it will gecome more of a tactic.
It also mounts a case for more sin bins as there victims are being forced from the field

That seems like a good idea on the surface, but then we will see a prolific abuse, more so than what we are currently seeing with free interchanges, HIA‘s are already questionable on occasion, automatic HIA’s sounds good in theory but will be just another cheat sheet option for those clubs, coaches and players that are happy to display their true sportsmanship. Maybe only the 18th man can be used to sub on and the 18th man must remain as a development player, or the wealthy clubs will again get an advantage, via a stacked bench and qua

Don't give them a free interchange unless that player is ruled out via HIA. The whole free interchange thing is already a farce! Just get rid of it unless they are ruled out of the game! The players milking clearly won't be ruled out so it would not be worth the "milking" for a penalty. Only the actual foul play will result in a free interchange.
The NRL bought in the 6 again to increase fatigue but we are seeing more and more stoppages than ever before with this crack down and with the free interchange rule, teams are basically getting as many interchanges as they want by rorting the system. Just get rid of it

Didnt they actually have a rule like that in place?

I seem to remember one of those tackles Tedesco fell into a few weeks ago that was deemed high & a penalty given & Tedesco having to leave the field but ran back on almost immediately as he was only leaving the field to formally fulfill the rule?

Anyone else remember that?

It's almost as if, for every rule change these fools bring in, there are unintended consequences as coaches and players work to bend it to their advantage.

After over 100 years of tweaks and changes, you would think that the above would be obvious....to all but PVL and the board, it seems.

This is why head high shots or dangerous contact should be dealt with off the field...

If it is clearly dangerous then send the player OFF...
If it is a professional foul then 10 in the bin...
Other contact on report, penalty if necessary but play on and let the judiciary sort it out ...

If blokes are spending time out of the game you will get as good a result (eliminating dangerous contact) if not better than from 12 on 13 games (or 11 on 12) but without SPOILING THE CONTEST... plus there will be less incentive to lay down like a b*tch...

But hopefully it won't be easy to manufacture a high shot from the opponent at the time you want a rest

With all the fines for high shots etc does anyone know how they are enforced?
Do the players write out a cheque to the NRL?
Does the club actually pay the fines?
Does the NRL take the fines out of the funding allocation to a club?
Are the fines actually paid, or is this all smoke-and-mirrors?

Fox just reported that Annesley said in his Monday dribble session that he hoped that players wouldn’t stay down to milk penalties.

He said that the MRC can issue contrary conduct charges if they see fit.

I bet the players are quaking in their boots at the possibility of a $1000 fine.

What a farce.
So a player gets the penalty which helps his team change momentum and possibly win the game... then gets a fine from the MRC...?

Can anyone forsee an issue here?

How bout we go back to pulling up bad head highs and letting the MRC deal with the slaps across the face?? Bloody stooges...

Sivo should be up for about $10K a game then.
