TPA’s are an absolute blight on the game , the Rorters signing Hall AND Morris ( after loosing Fergusson ) suggests it’s totally out of control.

And then the Donkeys paying 3 million for a forward for 4 years, WTF!!!

I some how dont believe that the Roosters are rorting the system , I think that they are out smarting the system
Why would the NRL favour the Roosters ?

I doubt they are rorting it either , but look at their board a who’s who of Australian corporate world who could arrange 20 million in TPA’s if needed.

And that’s my point about them being a blight on the game.

Oh sure ( as Rorters fans bang on incessantly about) “ we are just smarter than the rest”, not smarter really just better connected.

What is to stop all other clubs from finding the right connections ?

Some already do, the one team one city clubs are great examples.

But regardless, it’s an unfair advantage and against the original concept of the Cap!!

My idea is no cap at all, pay want you want BUT players are graded by points value based on an agreed set of values.

That way clubs can’t stack their sides with superstars earning 5 million a year each.

The system, as originally designed , is broken!!

Harry you were but a small child when the **** went down with Ha$ler.

I was working “ in conjunction” with the club at the time , travel , tours, supporter functions and the like.

I’m not going to bore everyone again, but I had the ear of all of the CEO’s from Lowe to Mayer to Perry and had a good working relationship with the football club.

So I personally knew of, and saw the proof of, a LOT of stuff that went down.

Whilst I think eventually he’ll be allowed back in to celebrate GF reunions and the like there’s no way in hell that man deserves, or will be given the reins to any part of the football club at Manly.

If he does , I’m done, I’ll make a farewell post on Silvertails and won’t return until he’s sacked, and my own 53 year love affair will be on hold.

It was treason young Harry, look that up in the dictionary if you need to!!

I'm with you! De$ coaches again and that period has an asterix next to it. I'll only allow De$ back if he's cleaning the toilets. And that would have to be at less than minimum wage.

Honestly I’d be flabbergasted if under the current ownership De$ ever set footbin the door, BUT, if the NRL take us over and we move to Perth then don’t be surprised!!

.. get your point .... but I believe Haas was about $3.4mil for six (6) years .... at 18yo and a mountain he is will be worth every penny of $550k per year ......

... the risk is the 6 years .... many things can go wrong ...

Bring back toovs or des or both.. if not cliffy and get crusher back he was the best recruiter we had

I’d be surprised if any of the aforementioned would even be remotely interested , although I do get your desire for a “ Manly man” at the helm.

In relation to Noel, that’s somewhat of a fallacy ( and be aware we’ve been mates since junior footy), Dave Warwick did most of the work Noel just had a network of bush scouts.

He did ok, but he is far from the best recruiter we ever had!!

Why do you think none of them would be interested? any chance you can elaborate on the things you heard or seen during the Des debacle? And yes I'm of the strong belief we need a Manly man at the helm because this Barrett imposter has us so close to the spoon that I'm actually worried

There would be zero love lost between any of them and the Penn’s, simple as that!!

I did say if the NRL took control that it might be different!

Hasler played well over 200 games for the club, played in our 87 and 96 wins, and coached us to premierships in 2008 (our greatest achievement) and 2011. Things fell apart and he walked out because he wasn't happy, much as you are proposing to do as a supporter. Yes, he tried to take his staff with him, but every coach has their own staff and would have done the same. Without des there is no 40-nil. And yes, he won with back ended contracts, the only way a minnow club like ours can compete with the big boys, and the only way we could have kept our champion team together. Winners are single minded and ruthless - hasler, Fulton, Bellamy, etc etc. You don't win by playing nice.

I think it’s more simple that we’ll just agree to disagree on some of that , we all have our views , you stick to yours and I’ll stick to mine!!

Well put brother , spot on .

I liked De$ as a coach. But he should stay away from the financial side of things and player's contracts.
I liked him too. Didn't even believe the rumours about him leaving but it turned out he withheld information from the men he coached to a GF and then tossed them and the club to the wolves,to benefit his own career. I thought he was siege mentality, Manly to the core but I was wrong. The feeling of betrayal was intense.

It's not like you to be so "harsh"....You really don't like Dessie do you. I though I liked the idea of Dessie coming back bit I'll trust your judgement and deeper knowledge of what he's really like....

There’s so so much that I’ve seen, but enough said , it’s in the past now, he’s gone and very very unlikely ever to return in a coaching gig.

But as much as I dislike him I sort of hope the wounds heal for everyone as he is after all a club legend, and even I can’t take that away from him!!

Something needs to change though mate. There's a serious problem with lack of accountability both on and off the field at our club.

Even as a passionate fan, the club, owners, management and some players have actually become unlikable.
