The Anthony Seibold Grievances MEGA THREAD

Given its timing within Manly's Schuster-is-the-messiah period, I saw the coach and captain's comments as a move made in desperation to motivate Schu to help himself... turns out it did not work and things snowballed shortly after...

Would LOVE to know what was going on behind closed doors at that time because I am certain that there was more to it....
Yeah its a strategy.

Not sure it helps gain trust. Schu obviously has mates in the team. Not sure how it would have gone down and considering the Titmus enquiry , the timing, it borders on poor form. Not sure how his support network would feel or advise after , especially if there were some demons,

Being a sensitive soul I would hate to have my name on it

But your right , nice to know the behind the scenes, there is always more too it. If he ever puts a book out i suspect this chapter will be huge

I get they were trying to help him or maybe themselves , the team, but attacking his attitude in public seemed a little like an excuse , and more about them than him . IMO it was over there and then, it takes a lot to come back from

But all in all i think seeberino is doing ok.

Dessies last 5 seasons were Dessies declining worst seasons

Dessie also won two grand finals including a Historic record breaking 40 points to nil

Just putting things in clear perspective when you try and compare Seibold with Des
If youre happy to just ignore the last 5 years of data when forming an opinion then you must have a high opinion of Aaron Woods?

I get your point and you may very well be right... i just think that, given DCE'S form when it comes to public speaking, it would not have been done lightly...

You can drag a horse to water but you can't make it drink... Manly had been dragging Schu for a long time at that point and I am guessing the team, or the powers-that-be, were just about done with it... one thing I am sure of is that Chez would not have made those comments unless he saw the writing on the wall and did not feel like Schu was buying in...

I reckon if you were to go back through the chronological events you’d probably find Tartak was the source of the initial leak that tried to make the club out to be the bad guys so the club had to go on the front foot to address it.

I don’t recall any public shaming of Schuster, just DCE & Seibold both saying Schuster knew what he had to do to get back into the team & was happy to do the hard yards to do it.

Obviously he didn’t succeed in those hard yards but I can’t see how anyone can blame the club for the events that occurred during that period nor remember any public shaming of Schuster.

You probably won't play this game but let's try. I'm not trying to be smart here. Everything below is a valid question in my mind. Cold all be total BS but hey....

****************

That's every coach of a bottom side. If only we had a flew quality players that could make a difference.
We don't have a bad roster do we?

I get you were inside the bubble and will know stuff the rest of us won't BUT.

If Des was so bad why do the majority of his players rave about the guy? Most that have played for him would run through walls for him. He's won premierships. He's taken sides to many more playing against generational side like the storm and roosters.
He's picked up players from the cop shop. DW. He's been in court with Snake. He went to visit Manese in the slammer. i honestly dont think ive seen a coach go that far for his players.

You talk about a control freak and the club trying to rein him in? All great winners are control freaks and it's not just our sport.
Do you mean like a Bellemy? Let's not forget the master coach cheated the salary cap and knew exactly what was going on.... he could be described as a control freak. Only difference is the storm went " do whatever you want the castle is yours".....
The great Bennett leaves a trail of disaster where ever He's been. Still considered the GOAT?
Cleary looks to be a bit of a control freak. That quiet kind who's probably the most dangerous.

Anyway I'm going to reiterate the point I'm not Anti seibold. I want the guy to succeed because that means we as a team succeeds. I supported Barret until it was clear he was useless. Unfortunately I see a slightly better version of Barrett in seibold so far. We may soon go on a run and he will prove me a total fool and if he does great. I will bend over and kiss my own arse just after removing the boot.
I have never suggested Des wasn’t a great man manager , not have I ever suggested he wasn’t loved by the players.

BUT he wanted , demanded and spat the dummy when he didn’t have total control.

We had ALL sorts of trouble with the cap, Des couldn’t give a **** about the cap he just wanted to win.

Happy to converse offline about this issue as I’d prefer to not go into it further publicly.

The way Seibold has brought a few players in this season has been done very well, Hoppa, Navale, Faulalo and Humphreys have all made their first grade debuts and looked ok.

Hoppa has thrived under Seibold, some very good coaching bringing him into the squad and developing him.

Not necessarily, some of them hate Des as well.
Very even handed in hate (!)
Dunno how u could hate Des... or any of them really...
Des frustrated the **** out of me with some of his rusted on selections and 2011 really hurt but in the end the guy is a club legend that gave me so many magical moments as a Manly supporter and this is a business as well as a game... plus everyone that has anything to do with Des speaks very highly of the guy...
Barrett did not (does not) get results and did not take enough responsibility... but he also called out the club on being poor in their support processes - which I reckon was an important step in the "rebuild" process (hopefully our "rock bottom" moment).. generally Twent seems like a nice enough bloke and players all seem to love him wherever he goes...
Seibs seems to be an analytical type of coach and I am impressed with the way he spoke about Des yesterday plus "The Manly Way" gave me a lot of hope that he not only gets it but he is getting new players to buy into our culture as a club...
Life is much too short to hate... but there is always time for robust discussion and a contest of ideas 😉
