Team Vs Storm next week. (Pre-Game Day Discussion)

Wonder if they give the big Paseka kid a run. Probably not but I'm looking forward to seeing this kid against the men. Probably Lane or Perrett comes in if req.

Storm had a hell of a fight against the sharks. Should've taken a bit out of their tank.

We had a team capable of beating the Dragons. Just didn't show up.
If we turn up mentally to play the Storm, we'll be competitive with the team which takes the field.

Need to be mentally switched on.
I think we all want to see how this bloke goes. Give him 15-20 mins and see what he brings to the table.

Probably picked the worst week to begin bagging our backrow.

Winterstein played his best game to date in Manly colours against Dragons, he was our most damaging forward and looked the most likely. 11 runs for 125m with 3 offloads and 2 tackle breaks is a pretty good effort. Only Marty (115 from 11) and AFB (106 from 11) were able to top 100m in our pack.

Previously, Sironen had been damaging, he monstered Roosters, with one of the best performances a Manly edge forward has produced since Choc prime.

Who do you replace them with, Shaun Lane? The guy who can't make the Blacktown starting team.

The back row is fine, props are fine, halves are fine, backs are fine, hooker is fine.

We had a bad day at the office, happens in every profession.

And as far as Lewis Brown goes, he's on the bench to give Api a rest. Brown has a decent passing game from hooker, and much better defending up the guts than he does out wide. But what about Hastings? You'll all say. Hastings has never once played hooker in his career, and his defence is meh, the yards he'll give up the guts will outweigh Brown's 1 dumb penalty.

Brown provides better coverage at centre and in the forwards than Hastings too, only way I can justify Hastings > Brown is if one of DCE, Green, or Turbo goes into the match carrying a niggle.

Cullen, I could cop over Brown as a bench hooker, again, Brown still has more utility value.

(Not saying he's a better player overall, just he can cover more positions and fits into the current side better.)

This week.

(Edit, I don't want to come across as a Hastings hater, that's the furthest from the truth, my younger brother played junior footy with and is friends with him, I spent a lot of time watching them play over the years, I like the guy and want him to succeed with Manly, so was happy we signed him, I just think Brown is better for our team at the moment.)
Some good comments in there. Have to disagree re Brown over hastings. Hastings would be better in the centres than Brown. He can cover anywhere from 1-9 most likely (covered fullback for Turbo) not saying he's some sort of utility back freak but for mine, Brown is a better forward type utility (hooker/backrow) and hastings covers the backs. Considering we have 3 forwards on the bench, it would seem that perhaps Hastings could be a better spark off the bench (even at 9) than Brown.

Roosters form was misleading. Played no one of note except a weakened Panthers side and won on a ref error. Brisbane had played the best sides and showed a lot of Roosters flaws Thursday.Missed the previous couple of games as was in China but our young talent must have shown through to get those results.

We are a young side with plenty of talent who are coached badly.Get a decent coach, develop some structure , buy a top line edge secondrower and work on replacing 6,9 and 14 and we can improve dramatically.
We should have bought Vaughan from the raiders

He towelled up our forwards on saturday and has been one of the form forwards all year

Again, having seen him play since he was a kid, he can't cover 1-9. Horrible in the centres, worse than what you've seen from Brown, and has never played hooker, not a good defender, even front on, will be monstered in the middle.

If you want spark only, and no injury cover, then Cullen is the guy for the bench, not Jackson.

With luck the storm is a bit banged up from yesterday's encounter.
Gotta be getting harder for some of their senior citizens to recover. Seems to be happening a bit this year.
Us after the parasites
Us after roosters
Roosters after us
Parasites after everyone.

He's a good player and would have been happy had we signed him no doubt although had Taupau and Lawrence been on in that game (along with literally the whole side bar AFB, DCE and Taufua) he would have been "towelled up" himself. He's indeed a tough, versitile forward although was up against a lethargic pack of which he was bound to look like a world beater against. Had we been at least somewhat alive he would've been hit and driven back like we did to JWH. Our forwards always stick with J turbo, Taupau, Lawrence etc however on Saturday they just let the Dragons pack (and backs) move up and keep moving.

Yep, @susan has been very, very quiet the last couple of weeks. And the we lose, BOOM, like clockwork, riding down the coach, 9 and 6. Love to hear your opinions after a good win mate. Poor form jumping all over a loss. Are you really @Ryan?

Hey guys, very harsh on Susan. Susan doesn't understand we are stuck with what we have as no one (with outstanding ability) will sign with us. At least for anther 3 years anyway.

The team played like a very tired team and was flat. They start the game with Uate pulling out, got completely robbed with the first try and you had Turbo trying to through miracle passed to the opposition to score from... they almost had a better reason than I did to get on the drink and get home late. Bet you I have to do more road runs this week than the team will!

Bringing on hastings as dummy half would be valuable.
Especially when we have no direction from the half's when we are bogged down.
He will run from dummy half, turn opposition forwards around and can kick from there.
If he got on against the dogs as dummy half instead of brown we would have won by 50. He would have turned their big pack inside out.
Againts the roosters he would have given us extra spark.
Unfortunately brown just doesn't offer any of that.

I agree man , hastings in the 6 for me .

I'm not sure what part of he's never played hooker in his life is so hard to comprehend.

@susan your a weak supporter and you just show up to vent your frustration. We lost wow, previous 3 weeks we beat quality teams. Sometimes you play a good side and have an off day, accept it. Comeback next game and rectify it. Looking at negative parts is going backwards, only way forward is to be positive.

Apart from knocking on in his first touch what else did Brown offer to better our team . I am not saying he was the reason for our loss but I am saying he adds nothing to lift the team . He is past his due date and he is a passenger .

Disagree totally with your first paragraph, it's a business players will go where the money is, very very little loyalty in Gen Y these days.

Oh sure, hard to pry top players from the top 3-4 sides, but top players from sides 5-16 will just go where they can get the most $$$ ( with a few exceptions to that rule).

Personally, I'm actually feeling quite good about this coming weekend. I have faith in Barrett (despite results). He himself said it was a wake up call.

The team owe the home faithful some quality. We have been deplorable at Brooky for 3.5 years now.

Api needs to bounce back - a lot of our play stems from how crisp and accurate he is.

The Trbojevic's are far too good to repeat that last ****house performance.

I think Manly win it.
