Tanah Boyd

Why the heck did we let Humphries go? Now we are looking at Boyd? Really!
Could be any of about 20 reasons!
Eg, , Humphries is almost 23 and has 1 NRL game - which probably means he was getting impatient. He seemed quite good but first grade? Be interesting to watch his progress at Souths.

IF it is true and we are looking to add Bateman, then hard to see how we will have space for Boyd as well.

Why did we let Humphries go ? to Bennett
Why did we let Weekes go ? Ricky Stuart
Why did we let Schuster go ? Bennett

Because this is the merry go round of the NRL
Each coach gets to choose the players that he thinks that will improve his teams success

The moral of the story ...
One Des coaches Trash
is another coaches Seibolds Treasure

Last year I was watching Tommy Talau at the tigers thinking why have we signed this bloke he is a trash player. Carrying weight, slow, poor defender what does someone see in him!

His transformation under Seibs and John Clarke has been sensational. His body shape, his consistency, his impact. He deserves to be the first outside back picked.

Not every rock turns into a diamond.

There is other halves available ATM who currently offer more.

But a lot of similarities with Boyd and Talau. Both big wraps on them as a junior. There is talent there. Both at one NRL club, both with few years under there belt, both in and out and a failure to cement a position.

If he ends up at Man, and takes the same trajectory as Talau, then just may be our club is in great hands.

Thank you for your point of view feathered friend

My view is this
Any talented player that leaves a Mediocre three time wooden spoon club would have plenty of room for transformation
Talau always had the talent but his talent had been tattered in a toxic wooden spoon club environment.
It is very hard to play good consistent footy when you play in a team that plays consistently bad and keeps winning wooden spoons

There is no Similar club like the Substandard tigers
3 wooden spoons in a row validates this

I regard this as an astute move. We are basically replacing Jamie Humphreys with a rather similar player (similar age, a natural half who can also have a go at hooker) except that Boyd has miles more actual NRL experience and his background clearly says he was seen as a star of the future. Then things went sideways for him at the Titans - but they are lazy no-hoper losers. This signing has very little downside and potential big upside. Good signing. Welcome to Manly and Chapter Two young man!

The astute move perspective

I thought it was an astute move by the Titans to move him because Tanah Boyd has been at the Titans since 2019 . That is 6 years to prove his potential and he has failed to do so . He has failed to consolidate a regular NRL spot and The Titans are spot on in looking for another half to take them to another level

Tanah Boys will come at a much higher cost to the cap then Humphries
and we wait and see what value he brings

Welcome to Manly Tanah Boyd
the Legendary club with High Premiership Winning Expectations
We hope you will live up to the pressure
Because Pressure at Manly is a privilege and it only comes to those that earn it

No Pressure . No Premiership Winning Trophy's

We should not cover players from Pressure
We should encourage them to face it
And If they cant handle the pressure
We should sent them to the Wooden spoon Tigers where they belong
Take It Away Winston !!!

Looks like a straight replacement for Humphreys and with the initial speculation with Volkman and now Boyd .
Humphreys did look quite good as a 7 against the Knights in particular but no doubt opportunity and a bit more money have influenced matters for him in the meantime .
Would still have thought Arthur sufficient halves cover to a point unless he is being considered as a possible 13 option and that would only probably be a marginal outcome .
if a direct swap for Humphreys and still some money to definitely cater for the likes of Bateman if feasible , maybe not the worst option ,

He belongs in Qld cup
Who in our 17 would he replace
Even as backup, would rather Simpkin, Croker, Arthur's or Gordy at 9 any day and Arthur's easily over him as DCe understudy with 2 young guns in the wings for 2026-27
Or better still - Hello NZ Warriors @;)
