Yeah I can only imagine Parramatta were prepared to offer more than we were. All things being equal you'd think Manly would be the more appealing club to go to.
There are pros and cons Appealing prospectives
Parra have better playing facilities
They have a career coach that all players are buying into his future plans
Seibold has said he does not want to be a career coach and only want to coach for just a few more years . It appears that there is more certainty at the rebuilding Parra club

110% it’s about the $$$$

There’s zero loyalty , zero favouritism these days.

Oh sure there’s the occasional one here and there but just like the Fainu kids , brought up and supported through the Manly system , meaningless when a big money offer arrives.

Well except for Dylan Brown, of course.
They kept the money for the better half in the NSW and Aust rep Moses
Moses is the Gun Playmaker at Parra
They kept the Better half to rebuild their team
They have a Great Half at his prime
They have a Great young fullback
Now They have a Great young Hooker
They have a spine of premiership winning promise

$650k for 4 years is what Parra have allegedly offered. Reports are saying we offered 3 years. Looks like we were simply outbid. A lot of unknowns for $650 but could end up being a great deal.

Big money for what is “ work in progress “, might turn out to be a masterstroke , might be the complete opposite

Prefer Simpkin to start in the present circumstances but also have to accommodate Jazz while he is at the club and Jake , at starting . 9 and 13 respectively
Taking into account the current line of thinking by the coaching staff that Jake not preferred starting as a prop .
Still plenty of opportunity for Simpkin to play big minutes and again a bit of a paradox but probably should be ideally starting as the 9 .
Still in his favor with Simpkin , a deceptive change of pace , defence quite reliable and effective and generally neat service .
No doubt a quality young 9 in T D S but in excess of 450 - 500 K even for the next 3 years , don 't really think in Manly 's best interests .
Would say a priority to keep Koula and Garrick on the books for an extended time and try and find or upgrade on a prop and 13 .
Maybe Navale can step up a bit but no assurances
As for props or a prop , no idea into the future though looks like Bryant has a prop background

Wonder how many clauses were thrown into that contract? He might have a get out clause every 2 years like they did with Dylan Brown. Tartak's a smart and shrewed operator.

We are in a position of having to over pay so if we want a player we will not get them for unders and it is only getting worse with new clubs. We need to get our pathways fixed quickly.

I don't see any evidence of this? Eels may have paid overs to get TDS, but we wouldn't pay overs because we're not desperate for him.
We didn't pay overs for Fogerty or Brooks.
In hindsight we paid overs for Schu, and maybe DCE and even the Turbos, but that is easy in hindsight (nd they weren't even imports they were all in our system!!)

Great post. Disappointing to not land him but almost $700k is ridiculous from Eels & blew everyone else out the water. Can’t get burnt again paying on potential like we did with Schuster. Now we have to hope Zaidas & Large continue to develop into stars with Simpkin doing a job until they are ready

Excuses are for losers,if they were properly run like we used to be with Arko they would have found a way.
Great organisations find great people to make it happen, anything else is unacceptable.

We see know evidence because we are buying players that most are not interested in.Fogarty (who I like) had raiders (who said ethan sanders is half next season) and us and most feel we gave him 1 season to many as for Brooks we over paid as he was and is a dud buy in my opinion.

Schu is not hindsight he had proven not worthy of an extension and we extended him on massive money.

People get sensitive when I say we have to over pay but all clubs in a cycle have to over pay to get out of a rut. It was only a couple of seasons back the dogs were over paying to build up now they are in a premiership window players are more inclined to go there.

Our coach is not a drawcard either so that doesn't help.

But our pathways need fixing.....guys like the Large bros,Walsh,Muagututia etc ..are just fictional to some.
