Manly bound?

Unfortunately hasn’t been reported in the press, more one of those things you just hear down the corso.

Context: said to be leaving the tigers, managed by Mario Tartak who has a presence in the club already, Manly area of deficiency at hooker (we have plenty but they are all poor).

Not sure how considering we have Croker, Simpkins with Zaidas coming through (and Ashton Large). He can play though.

Cool - an interesting rumour. I would take him and have him as our starting 9 immediately.

I know the club previously went after him and missed out so I know we’d be interested, if he was available. I imagine he also played under Hales and Lambkin at Westfields. It also makes sense given Croker’s issues, Gordy’s contract and Simpkin being the only real prospect.

He is probably ready to start and Koroisau is blocking that path.

Would be an interesting dynamic given he essentially displaced Simpkin as Api's backup at the Tigers. Da Silva is the better prospect long term but Simpkin has the chance the rest of this year to establish himself at hooker and build some combinations with the rest of the team.

Can't hurt to have both though, agree with bringing him in and saying bye bye to Croker and Gordie.

We were also looking at Tom Starling from Canberra. He looks to be now staying on at the Raiders and this indicates we are still active for a hooker.
I rate De Silver and could be a better fit for our squad as we might need and little more creativity from dummy half with Brooks and Fogarty as our halves.
This should also bring turbo into the game a lot more with a creative hooker.

Now we have our immediate future locked in with a more solid, game manager style halfback, the need for some attacking options at dummy half ramps up.
100%. Tallyn is quick and likes to run. If we land him, he’ll compliment the less dynamic but more controlled game of Fogarty. Simpkin was good against the Panthers but he’s not overly quick out of dummy half and his service is decent, without being Blake Brailey, who is the closest thing I’ve seen to Matt Ballin in how perfect he passes a football.

The same links that connected Galvin to Manly are the same ones that also connect Da Silva here. He was one of the few players to back Galvin, because they are close from these connections. Lots of reasons for him to come.

If we went cold on Starling, leading to him re-signing at the Raiders, this may be the reason why. I'd previously heard that he wouldn't stay if Koroisau re-signed at the Tigers.

Would not surprise me. I think Croker is headed for the glue factory, and there's enough good young hookers running around that having a couple of them is a fair shot. Yet again, I'm fairly certain Ashton Large is only 16 or younger, so he's likely only going to come into the Top 30 in 2028. Remember, Manase didn't leave while Koroisau was here. We had a few years with both playing first grade.
