Hi all, just wanted to share a stat i saw from the Daily Telegraph this morning that surprised me.

I thought we would have been middle of the teams with this stat, but we are 3rd only behind Melbourne and St George.

Our goal line defense will be important in the run in to the finals and in the finals, so good to see we are up there with this stat, even though we are well behind the Dragons.

Yeah I thought our goal line defence was pretty good this year - it's the long range tries against the run of play that have sunk us in 3 or 4 games! vs Titans (both games).. Eels .. Canberra .. etc Shows our transition from attack to defence is slow, and that scrambling / cover defence is not up to scratch.

Also first Tigers match. Seems to me we concede a lot of long range efforts in broken play.

I don't understand the "ratio" part of this

What is it supposed to represent?

Average number of tackles we make defending in our 20 m zone for each try we concede (at a guess)

Yep, take for example our stats (455 tackles made for 43 tries) So you divide 455 by 43 = 10.6. So we concede 1 try every 10.6 tackles made in our own 20.

I think Des would be proud of me...

So that is an average of 16.6 ,and not a ratio.
If it was a ratio it would read 16:6 and mean absolutly sweet F.A.

Ours as a ratio would be 10.6:1. I think...fark knows , I did a pshyc-ametric test for work the other day and got a migraine and school was too long ago.

i honestly thought our goal line defence was a bit worse, i am obviously wrong, its our broken play defence that is woeful !
