Match Stats

Starting Lawton at half was akin to Des starting Funa at 5/8 all those years ago. Surely the most sensible and logical decision was to start a half who actually plays half => Humphrey. This is where I have an issue with Siebold. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.

I appreciate and agree with all this, my upset comes from just not firing a shot against a team that despite all the above was there for the taking on that particular night, Brooke’s and Siebold in particular should’ve come up with something better in attack after identifying how lacklustre south’s were and how many opportunities were there.

We didn’t fire a shot. That’s a worry no matter how you cut it. Brookes is experienced enough and paid well enough to muster better than that and Siebold called it a throw at te stumps yet didn’t arm the team with a single projectile, or the players that did play arnt skillful enough to manufacture a single chuck. Again, a worry no matter how you cut it

* Apart from Talau, where boofhead Condon just didn’t do his role

I agree that Brooks should have been given the reigns on Saturday night. Sure being THE play maker takes him out of his comfort zone ... but he was the only half we went into the game with and Seibold basically had him stuck out on the left kicking nothing bombs all night.

He was easily our most experienced player out there. The only actual half we had on the park ... and if that was Seibold's game plan then serious questions need to be asked about his coaching.

As I've said previously, the fact that Seibold chose to first name a 2nd rower / hooker at half, then ended up playing a centre/winger there ... instead of bringing up the NSW Cup half who is in the squad sends the basic message that they don't have confidence in Humphreys.

For those who don't know, Humphreys played 5/8 and scored a try and kicked 7 goals in Blacktown's 42–10 win over Souths on the weekend.
