Some perspective

I told myself I wasn’t going to come on here for a few days but couldn’t resist a look and thought I’d post this.

Firstly the perspective!

Did anyone, yes anyone expect any different result today after the week we’ve just had??

The Eels 0 and 6 and with a point to prove and they did just that BUT they were just as shaky as us for the first 20 minutes and were lucky we didn’t score first and then roll on.

The refs wanting to “ send those nasty boys a lesson”, and at 7-0 after about 10 minutes they did that in spades!

The players not even close to being in the right headspace, and that’s before they even set foot on the field!

A long record of having not won at ANZ for years!!

I can’t say much about the second half as I turned off at 20-0 but you could see it wasn’t going to be pretty.

I was that sure of the result I picked Parramatta in my tipping ( sorry but have to get points anyway I can), I didn’t think there was anyway we’d win ( consequently I’m not as dissapointed as most of you).

The future perspective.

The sky hasn’t fallen in just yet and we are at home to a “ Pearceless” Knights on Friday at Brookie.

I’m sure there will be a lot of soul searching during the coming week, so rather than slit your wrists , strap yourselves in, get behind our side and let’s hope they get their **** together!!

Bagging DCE, Marty and the “ Sack Barrett” brigade are getting tiresome.

How about , “ look we are going like **** but how about we stick together as fans and do our best to support the team”.

So, anyone want to join me in the “ team positive” team??

I am afraid that todays result was inevitable, the moment we saw the division in our team! You knew beforehand that the Whingers were going to get a stack of penalties and for 25 minutes we coped well and showd some resilence, as soon as the try was taken off us, the team dropped their bundle!! You will never win a game with a team that is split like this one is at the moment. Time for some honesty and leadership to start happening and that starts at the top!! I just hope the lessons of the last week are heeded and fast!!

Our "poor roster" does not account for performances like these last few weeks. That is the reflection of a team in a very poor head space. The history of sports is full of examples of teams, with what was considered less fancied individuals, pulling together to exceed expectations (synergy). While losing is not fun, the angst is far more to do with the way we are playing (regardless of cattle).

Agree, and it’s not the job of just one person to do this it’s the 17 that pull those jerseys on!!

As a Loyal supporter you cant do more than being a financial club member putting your money where your heart is .
Supporters are at the mercy of the coaching team and their philosophy and selections .
A teams character is measured by the way they go though and come out of adversity .
We are going though a tough period at the moment and they say when the going gets tough the tough get going as teams with character respond with resilience and at times defy the odds but win or lose always come out with the fighting spirit
Loyal supporters like me will always remain and under performing coaches and players will always depart making way for another successful era for our proud club .

It's interesting, because it is in these very situations of crisis (maybe a bit harsh, perhaps "challenge" would be better?) that genuine leadership is needed. Right now is the perfect opportunity for the right people to exercise leadership skills and for the team to pull together on the back of it. Having a f**king (c) next to your name on the team sheet means jack sh*t.

A large number of Manly players are breaking their contracts : where a players must play to the best of their abilities: this includes efforts and attitudes; enthusiasm and commitment to the club and the match they are chosen for.

As upset as I am after today that is our only choice if we are true Manly fans , I know nothing about the Hastings dynamics etc and Croker isn’t the reason we lost but gee every other team knows that DCE is the play maker and they are on him pronto , we need someone who can share the load and as much as I want to encourage Croker he has shown little in attack (all be it behind beaten or error prone packs) and an upgrade on Green a bit in defence
But we need more, JH isn’t the messiah but we need repeat sets and we need some spark and surely TB has to realise that .
If he goes back on the JH to reserves he will have egg on his face but if it helps us win that will be forgotten.If we keep losing with Croker and bad team attitude he could be signing his own termination letter and the death warrant for our season,anyway crunch game next week we r only 2 wins out of the 8 I think so not all hope is lost or misplaced

Agree, and it’s not the job of just one person to do this it’s the 17 that pull those jerseys on!!

Contrary to that admirable sentiment, it is not going to happen with some socialist 17 magically leading themselves out of the hole (though yes, all 17 will have an important part in the recovery).

Realistically, it is going to be the initiation of action by one, possibly more, to take the situation by the scruff of the neck (that's probably one key behaviour I would attribute to real "leadership").

1. Start by addressing the problems honestly, and give all stakeholders a voice
2. Commit to work on mending relationships if and where necessary
3. Recommit to team goals agreed to by all
4. Create an action plan to move forward
5. Start the work.

I too believed we would lose today but I never tip against Manly - it would feel like I broke the law if I did 😛
Our lack of form, lack of ball control, enthusiasm and team cohesion, and a sub par kicking game, is incredibly frustrating to watch. And comments from our coach and captain can be very frustrating when the team dishes up that rubbish.
DCE really got on my nerves when he talked about the footy field being his happy place when interviewed as he's walking off the field after a 44-10 loss to the 16th placed team. I may be being a harsh judge because this guy cops it from all angles but that's not what the fans want to hear Cherry! Get some friggen fire in your belly!
I'm also questioning the integrity of the whole competition. I'd like to know if any other team so far this season, has had 3 dodgy tries disallowed, Lane V Titan's, both of Kelly's today and they tried to find a reason to take try 2 off us today but had to award it?
Do any other teams have a pattern of penalties against being on tackles 4 or 5 and only getting penalties on tackles 1 or 2?
It almost seems it's like a directive from the NRL. Note, I am not saying that refs are the sole reason for recent losses. Not at all but it seems something fishy is going on.
Lots of work to do at Manly. There needs to be some solid changes made for us to move forward.
I'm here for the long haul and the next win will be ever so sweet.

Always do Mark, but after being at last week's dismal performance, I then make the effort to get to Homebush today, only to see that **** dished up. Is it any wonder Barrett, DCE, etc are being bagged! Imo they're responsible!

There's no question the fans will stick together and will I be there again next week supporting them? Of course, but they sure don't make it easy.
