Slater Knob Fest

The shoulder charge is over policed I reckon. It was brought in after Hoppa nearly took someones head off and Inglis did the same to someone from St Merge. But body on body, shoulder on body, is just contact. Don't get me wrong, it hurts, but this game is not for soft socks.
I agree with the ruling that the hit should not warrant a suspension, neither should any similar hits. This is needed in our game.
However, Unfortunately, I absolutely agree with everyone else about the inconsistent bull**** refereeing we have been exposed to this year. It has been crap!

This is the point. The judiciary made the right decision tonight. The problem is the dozens of others they got wrong where they suspended players for bracing themselves etc. The game is a mess and I really don’t know where it goes from here...

Being suspended from a GF would have been the perfect end to Slater's grubby career. Missed opportunity

Anyway the perfect sentiment has already been expressed. Why reward the NRL with ratings when the two teams making the biggest mockery of the rules are playing in the GF?

-FARSLATERCAL :

To be a grub ,kiss ars3,loved by muppett journalists and get away with anything in the game.

Just added to the dictionary

Not sure about anyone else, but at least a few times a month I send some 'feedback' to the NRL about refereeing.
Don't get me wrong, I have an U14 Year Old playing Rugby League and has this year decided to Referee Under 6,7 and 8's for a bit of extra pocket money, and also because he loves his rugby league.
I have seen first hand the abuse he cops from devoted parents of teams on the receiving end of some of his Refereeing decisions! (I must admit he has been right on most of those occasions!)
So I get the fact that Refs are human, probably underpaid, get abused by everyone etc.
However, the NRL has a Bunker!, They can pay the Refs a decent salary to work fulltime (i.e so not distracted by learning Year 8 Algebra!).
With all the camera angles, how do they consistently stuff it up week after week.
The link where I send my frustrations to is here:

I didn't think they would dare let him off despite all the hype. Just shows how corrupt the game is now. Bring on the Aussie Rules. RL has become a joke and I certainly couldn't be bothered watching the Grand Fizzer between the most successful TPA abusers and manipulators of the game. I just hope both teams lose.

Aaaaand the farce continues. How can anyone take this sport seriously anymore. Turdberger is the clown running this circus and no one has any balls to challenge his appalling record.

He should quit.
This decision is effectively a vote of no confidence in his organisation.
They banned the shoulder charge with no real thought of the consequences, their officials call it a shoulder charge on field, their MRC call it a shoulder charge.
Their third string prosecutor runs the case ( because they hadn’t bothered to book the best ones ) and can’t get a guilty verdict over the line.
Greentud has to go, he made this mess!

The thing that makes this all worse is that it involves the Storm and arguably their grubbiest player. Its hard to support (close to impossible) a club abusing the cap, a player who has multiple significant grubby incidents (called studs up for a reason), and a NRL administration who is scared to have the storm fail in a AFL dominated state (and now the rebels to contend with).

Also he has a real punch-able face.

If this was RTS and the warriors, we would probably be more compassionate, or understanding, as many of us dislike how unfair the shoulder charge rule can be in desperate tackles (it is a contact sport after all).

But you cant help but feel the NRL made sure he played, and that is so unfair on all the other players, who now shouldn't have been sidelined. This has greenslime written all over it.

I had to laugh at a tweet from Warren Smith from Fox sports after tonight's farce saying that the judiciary is an independent body and that the NRL has no influence over it at all.

Seriously, what drugs is Smith on??

The NRL and the media (including Smith's employer) wanted Slater playing this Sunday. The judiciary was never going to rule against him regardless that he was guilty.

And quite frankly, after that farce, because that's what this is - a complete and utter farce, I'm ashamed as a Manly fan that Mal Cochrane was one of the 3 judiciary panel members.

Like @Chip and Chase I too was holding on to that thin sliver of hope that the nrl had some integrity left. But it has been replaced with Intoddgrity for sure.

I had to laugh when reading that part of Billy's defence was that Feki changed direction so it was his fault.

I haven't watched non Manly games in awhile (I used too) and so I was never going to watch this gf (worst of all worlds) but the blatant politicising of this Murdoch backed decision is just...so...excitement extinguishing for a lot of the fans.

I'll email them as well only to get a response back in 3+ months claiming the panel of ex players is totally independent, etc, yawn, but I'll also cancel my watchnrl subscription. I only ever watched Manly, plus that show 'the fan' and I paid full price for it then found out discounts were aplenty.

There's just too many ways to watch the game for free in good quality.

I've never come across a game so amateurishly run, controlled by pork barrelling agenda driven crooks.

Vague rules allowing incompetent refs to ref incompetently with their brother as the boss!
Salary cap sombrero's
Some clubs investigated, favourites not

Well I could go on but you all get it. I'm tired of trying to grow the nrl over here in my small circle of friends. They love how physical it is, but laugh at all other aspects.

There's too many well supported, correctly ruled games that exist played on level playing fields.

I saw a NFL game on the weekend where the official made a call, it was reviewed and he was wrong...so....shock horror, the decision was reversed! No one lost out and the ref's boss won't have to come out and blab on about how ref's have a tough job and he agrees with their stupid incorrect decisions.

TL: DR

Go Manly, but screw you nrl. You've ruined this game....officially, and we're all the poorer for it.

For the record.....

I think its a stupid rule and what Slater did really shouldn't have even warrant a penalty let along a judiciary hearing. HOWEVER.....its in the NRL's rules that players are not allowed to do shoulder charges. And a shoulder charge is exactly what Slater did.

The judiciary threw that rule out the window tonight by letting Slater off and in doing so the NRL lost any remaining credibility it had as a fair and unbiased sporting organisation.

Don't blame Mal until they tell us which Panel Member held out for 50 minutes as it was/does not have to be a unanimous vote :wait:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually blaming Mal. Its just shameful that there was an ex-Manly player involved in last nights farce at the judiciary.
