Slater Knob Fest

If the NRL wants to avoid situations like this they need to change policy not come up with BS judiciary decisions.
I've always thought there should be 50% discounts on certain types of charges during the finals and further discounts to players with no charges in that season. Obviously serious offences are still hammered but accidents and things that attract a week off in the regular season wouldn't in the finals for the first offence.

Why should Finals games be treated any differently to a game in say, round 6?

I hope they let him off.

He wins the Churchill Medal. Then scores 7 tries all from Cam Smith forward passes.

Then slips on a banana peel and skins his forehead on the presentation stage, and lands firmly implanted head first in Bellamy's butt cheeks.

Slater commented during the hearing that he had watched every try of Edrick Lee and Sosaia Feki this year in prep for the game. If he been playing Manly and wanted to watch our wingers tries, it would have taken him about 22 seconds.

In doing so admitted that he was practicing the non shoulder shoulder charge all week

Come on Toddy.....text the panel and tell them they can stop planning their GF barbecue with each other.

The charade has gone on long enough now. Time to look ernest and let Billy boy play.

I personally think it should be like Gladiator. Everything goes, no repurcussions, no suspensions. Blood and guts the way they did it in ‘73.

I like the way you think and would like to subscribe to your newsletter

But seriously, the rules of the game are the rules of the game and should be applied the same way be it a minor club game, a Finals game, the Grand Final or a representative game.

8.45pm: Billy Slater found NOT GUILTY. He is free to play in Sunday's grand final. Full story to come.

8.44pm: All parties have been summoned back into the room for the verdict after a mammoth minute deliberation. Is this it? Is the career of the great Billy Slater over? Or does he get a shot at a fairytale farewell?
