Australian Olympic swimmer Geoff Huegill has been charged with assaulting a police officer after a night out in Brisbane.
The 28-year old was arrested for allegedly jumping the queue at a taxi rank in Ann Street in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
A taxi marshal called police after Huegill ignored his warnings.
The Olympic silver medallist said he was charged with being a public nuisance, obstructing and assaulting police and he told Channel Nine he regretted the incident.
"I am extremely remorseful about the whole situation and how the events have unfolded," he said.
"At no stages was any punches thrown on my behalf or was there any physical situation that broke out."
Police say Huegill has paid a fine and the matter had now been resolved.
