So it has to be a clear line in the sand...
IF Cronulla Win the 2018 GF and the team is found over the cap as already suggested, would they Not LOSE the Premiership like Melbourne Storm ?
The smart thing to do "IF" they are over as alleged, is take the spoon from Brad Arthur and hand it to this mob.....
Then give the side sitting next 8th spot to contest the finals....
Why have a team in it that can't win it....or are they pretending that Cronulla are over every season except when they win the comp - pretty considerate and coincidental @

Fox Sports has the following:

Investigations into Cronulla’s salary cap compliance began three months ago, but details are only starting to emerge now.

Speaking on Triple M’s The Grill Teamon Wednesday morning, Fox League expert Paul Kent alleged the illegal payments were made through a club employee directly to the players involved.

“We have to be careful because at the moment we’re not quite sure and it’s still early days,” he said.

“It appears payments were paid to someone at the club who was essentially overpaid and the money he was paid was then passed directly onto the players.

If true, that is up there with free boats and mysterious kitchen renovations.
Fk the Sharks.

Early days, etc.... and if true blah blah blah but still it's interesting the sports 'journos' refer to Manly's 1 mill + salary cap equating to the 700k fine etc so the sharks punishment should be...pro rated in a way.

But as we all know:

NO Manly player got paid any more than Manly reported, and was approved by the nrl.

Sharks have reportedly overpaid some guy at the club so he can then distribute undeclared monies to sharks players.

We all know which is worse (well not the 'journos' obv)

Knowingly taking drugs (**** all fine) and now this. Seeing the nrl orchestrated a gf for them...maybe it's time for some mgt suspensions, 2mil+ fine and 20 point deduction next year, and a 750k salary cap deduction for the next 2 years.

Though if it's taking 3+ months for some legal moron to work out that 'best endeavours' does not mean a guarantee, what hope have we got to see justice?

Yeh on the news this morning, they took the angle of the poor Cronulla sharks fans, what a huge blow for them and the club. FMD, wot about Sea Eagles fans who have to put up with new scandals and accusations every farkin day of the week!!!! I see the Saints dressing room blow up has taken top story over the Sharks now anyway, well until they get footage of Trent having to pack his own chairs into the back of a hired ute by himself.

You can bet your backside, they won’t be playing with a reduced salary cap over the next two seasons. That punishment is a one time thing...

Could see this coming a mile off.

Part of our defence would surely have been that Gorman knew full well the exact same practices were happening at the sharks.

Jokelly would also know that it was happening at the rorters. The nrl would have done a deal with the rorters along the lines of 'jokelly puts his hand up, nrl suspend him for 12 months and we won't look at your books'.

Sharks had to cop it as I am sure Manly would use Gorman's intel in any court case.

Pretty much confirms that all clubs are operating under the same 'interpretation'

We are just getting screwed over for it. Any other clubs not dragged through the media will have been tipped off by the nrl to hide relevant info

Apparently grenburg is gunna say something in 10 mins or so.

Probably 'nothing to see here, how about we talk the game up, and Manly sucks.'

How can they possibly say with a straight face that they are compliant this year when they couldn’t get the previous years right?

Greenberg protecting Cronulla big time. Claims that Cronulla are more than half a million under the cap at this very moment. Wow... Aaron Woods and Moylan and Dugan must have come cheap. Also alluding to Gorman being responsible.. and reiterated several times that their breach is much less serious than ours was. Also said very proudly that Manly have had BIG problems this season because of our salary cap reduction, and that we will also have big troubles next season. This is an absolute disgrace.

I thought exactly the same thing. Doesn’t sound great for our appeal when he essentially said we’ll be ****ed again in 2019.

Greenberg claims it will be certain officials who are penalised in this instance as opposed to the club itself. And told us several times that Cronulla are more than half a million under the cap this year. This sport has become completely rotten... from the inside out, the rot has set in and corruption, cover ups and personal agendas are king.

NRL boss Todd Greenberg confirms Cronulla Sharks’ 2018 finals position amid salary cap scandal

NRL boss Todd Greenberg fronts media about the Cronulla salary cap scandal.

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg has confirmed the 2018 finals series will not be impacted by the investigation into Cronulla’s salary cap dealings.

Greenberg fronted media on Wednesday and revealed the period of investigation goes back “a number of years”.

But he said the Sharks are “significantly under” the salary cap for the 2018 season, meaning they are free to compete in the upcoming finals series.

He said they are as much as half a million dollars under the cap for this year.

Greenberg said the NRL can’t put a timeframe on the investigation and he is unsure how long it will take to complete.

He also confirmed all other 15 clubs are cap compliant for the current season

Greenberg did reveal the extent of the salary cap breaches are less severe than those of other clubs previously uncovered, such as Melbourne and Parramatta.
