Seibold presser ..

Okay I had a look at last year to see when there was a coach having a real crack at their players in a way that most on here seem to advocate.

For context there were 213 games played so lets say there were 100 or so "loser" press conferences.

From what I could see a couple from coaches who are still employed

While there are a couple of other from ex coaches

What about Ricky?

This was the only time I could see it being reported etc.

Now lets talk Belamey. I could not see anything from last year at all

As for Bennett all i could see was this

If you look past the headline you can see it was not that much of a go

As for Ivan lets take how he is managing the first real crisis in a while

He has faith etc.

I get that people are not happy and want some accountability but that is just not the way almost every team works. They keep the criticism in house unless it works for them to either create a distraction or for some other reason.

Ultimately part of a NRL coaches job is to manipulate the media as much as possible. If Seibs had some out and said the performance was awful etc how many "Manly in Crisis" headlines would there have been this week? He is clearly trying to go as vanilla as possible to take the heat away from the DCE mess

This is Bellamy from last year (sure, he's not giving his players a bake but he is explicitly stating that what they dished up, was not good enough). He's balanced, reasonable, and honest. I think that's what people want from Seibs. He is constantly reminding us after every loss that 'it's a tough competition' and that the opposition 'are a good side' or 'premiership favourites for a reason' or that he 'proud' of our effort. I could be wrong, but I get the feeling he is carefully curating a narrative to paint a favourable picture.

Bellamy said some poor execution early in the first and second half was the reason for the loss, while praising Manly for a complete 80-minute performance.

“Our start in both halves were poor. I think the first 25 minutes, we didn’t even complete at 50%,” he said

“We showed some resilience, but you can’t start games like that and expect to win at this level.

“At stages it looked as though we were looking for the quick kill, and that just doesn’t work.

He’s been like that for the whole time he’s been here!! It’s got nothing to do with the DCE thing.
