Sea Eagles extend contract of Paseka

I am Taniela's biggest fan but got to say he continues to disappoint me with his ongoing inability to dominate and impose ANY sort presence on the field. Sadly I think the verdict is out and I think he is a back seat passenger. We need a driver...we need a leader up front. That's not Taniela.

It's 50-50 every week if this guy is going to turn up with the right mentality and intent. He was outstanding last week in his return and changed the game once he came on. Last night he went back to taking hitups flat footed and plodding into the defensive line. Really frustrating player at times

Maybe because he was playing a very different pack than last week…and came on when we were well ahead not getting bashed

Not saying this excuses the performance but it is not as simple as “turning up “

He has consistently been our best front rower all year,but yeah,he has been inconsistent this year if that suits your narrative I guess.
Can't have one off game a year,think he still had 16 hit ups and 140 metres or so.....

I thought his early season form was terrific. Hasn’t had any impact since his return from that thumb injury. He’s always lacked a bit of mongrel but is still an asset to this team.

One thing I have noticed with Paseka is that every-time he has an injury he always takes time to get back into form, not saying that is ok but yeah thats what I have noticed about him

Love Paseka but that was a pretty disappointing performance following a contract extension. I don’t know what it is but he and Aloiai are good players in their own right yet we consistently start games slowly and always look far better and more lively once Brown and Bullemor come on. Really need more from our starting props because we won’t go far if they keep being dominated like they were tonight.

That was the end of Taniela’s 7th season with the club and I’m still waiting for him to develop into the dominant prop he could be. I would’ve expected him to be outplayed by JWH in his early days, but not at 26 years old with 100+ NRL games when JWH is 35 and about to head off for England!

That was the end of Taniela’s 7th season with the club and I’m still waiting for him to develop into the dominant prop he could be. I would’ve expected him to be outplayed by JWH in his early days, but not at 26 years old with 100+ NRL games when JWH is 35 and about to head off for England!

It aint gonna happen he isnt that player.

I’m just gonna put this bluntly and honestly… Paseka is nothing without a dominant alpha pack male to lead him. Simple.

Don’t get me wrong. He is a brilliant pack horse and invaluable once that dominant dependable alpha is in place. Dorothy will bend over backwards and run through concrete for the right leader. He is just not that person to lead. Not a criticism, just an honest review of his value and strengths.

A JWH next to Dorothy over the past few years and moving forward, would have been ideal. The Preacher should have been that role, but like so many religious leaders, fell way short of authentic leadership.

And one last comment for tonight…. BK would have been the ultimate perfect forward partner for Paseka and his development.

Paseka is the ultimate tease, he shows you what he's capable of but rarely backs it up in the games that he should. Definitely not the pack Alpha male type of forward, more your, you go first and I'll follow type of forward.

I don't mind tent, and I also don't know if the coaching staff are yelling 'run **** ya' ala Foz style, but I did get a chuckle when I read about Tent wanting to go to the nfl to try his luck.

He is so far from their full on , hyped up, scream at everything, mojo, he'd probably go into hiding just at the introduction to the coach, lol.

Anyway, "there's always next year."

He's just a gentle giant, it's not in his nature to be that forward leader that we all hoped for.
