Sea Eagles extend contract of Paseka

MANLY KEEN TO LOCK DOWN STAR FORWARD

Manly are keen to tie down another one of their stars long-term with the Sea Eagles opening discussions with prop Taniela Paseka.

Fresh from Jason Saab re-signing until the end of 2029, the Sea Eagles have now turned their attention to Paseka whose own deal does not expire until the end of 2026.

Despite having two years left on his deal, Manly want to ensure he remains at the club long-term with discussions already well advanced.

While one extra season had been spoken about, it is understood that Paseka’s camp is eyeing at least two more years on top of his current deal.

That would see Paseka, 26, remain at the club until at least the end of 2028.

With 109 games to his name, Paseka is about to enter the prime of his career. Manly are showing faith in their current squad as they proactively try to keep them together well before rival clubs can speak to them.

Saab extended despite having time left on his deal while NSW debutant Haumole Olakau’atu is locked in until 2031.

Luke Brooks, Ben Trbojevic and Tolutau Koula are contracted until at least the end of 2027 with Koula having an option in his favour for that season.

Great to have him back, over the advantage line every carry!!

Need him for the Rorters game to give them some heat in the middle..
A win against the roosters next week will really help our premiership chances coming into the back end of the year. Will give the boys a heap of confidence to knock off a top 4 side in the roosters at this stage of the season. I actually think this game will be our most important game yet. Season defining perhaps, a win and I can see us rolling down hill into a top 4 spot. If we get put to the sword, it could put a massive dent in our armour. Hoping for a close game!

Funny story.
My kids go to a school on the GC that has just tied up a deal with the NFL to run the Pacific area Academy. Will be a huge investment and a long term project. Anyway the guy that's running it has his son at the school who is friends with my son. He was around at my place and i asked him who in League he had his eye on and he went on to tell me just how close the NFL was to signing Paseka back in 2020/21. This guy personally met with Tanilea and his family. gave him the big sell and was about to sign him as their no.1 target. It was a hair away he recons. could have been a completely different story.

Lucrative Manly deal poised to make Paseka the NRL’s longest-contract prop

Taniela Paseka is eyeing a leadership role as the Sea Eagles put the finishing touches to an upgraded extension that will make him the longest contracted prop in the game.

Manly are poised to sign off on an added three years to Paseka’s contract which would keep him in maroon and white until the end of 2029.

At 197 centimetres and 120 kilos, Paseka is one of the largest players in the game and has spoken previously of “playing to his true size” and potential, particularly since Anthony Seibold arrived at Manly in late-2021.

Paseka is already on the Sea Eagles books until the end of 2026. A three-year extension would take him beyond Test and Origin middles Pat Carrigan, Joe Tapine and Nelson Asofa-Solomona (signed until the end of 2028) as the NRL’s longest contracted front-rower.

Injured Gold Coast skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui has a million-dollar deal until the end of 2033 but he has contract options in his favour from 2026.

Paseka’s new deal would keep him at Manly until his 32nd birthday and ideally make him a Sea Eagle for life.

“I’d love to stay for the rest of my career,” Paseka said after returning from thumb surgery against the Titans on Sunday with an impressive 156 running metres in 30 minutes.

“I love this club. I’ve debuted at this club, played 100 games and this club means a lot to me

If I can keep playing the way I’m playing then the next thing is being the pack leader. I’d love to take that role on.

“First you follow, and then you lead. So I’m just taking it slow at the moment, just doing my job and then hopefully I can slide into that leadership role.”

Manly’s three-game winning run has lifted Seibold’s side to fifth on the ladder with a chance of leapfrogging the Roosters into fourth if they claim the points over them at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

While contract talks with Seibold have been put on hold, Manly has tied down Haumole Olakau’atu until the end of 2031 and winger Jason Saab until the end of 2029.

Fellow front-rowers Josh Aloiai and Nathan Brown have also signed two-year extensions, the latter after starting the year on a $1200-a-week train-and-trial deal.

Only the Raiders and Panthers have more players signed for 2026 and beyond than Manly, with Paseka viewed as the club’s long-term forward leader.

“We’ve got a great set of players here and to keep them all together long-term, you just build on that,” he said.

“We’ve built on that since 2020. If we can keep those guys in key positions, I think that helps and the big goal is to win a comp. Hopefully (Seibold) signs a lot of the boys, I love everyone here.”

Key pieces being locked in - while we may wait longer than liked, I honestly see a premiership the next 3 years to maintain the record of premiership each decade.

It feels a bit like 2006/07. Paseka is Kite like - big fella, but not an enforcer - until something clicks. We all remember Kite in early stages of "Battle of Brookvale" taking down the Melbourne mongrel Crocker. Paseka is poised to do the same, to someone and then watch out. Brown is Watmoughesque - our backline is good.

And then to add to the ingredients and with a nod to 2011 - with have a Hopoate coming from nowhere and setting the place alight, rest up Lehi and come back with what you have shown

this year second Im calling prelims - and disappointment

Next 2 years premiership

Lots of favourite players at Manly atm but got to say Taniela is right up there towards the top. I met him a couple of years back when we last played in Mudgee. To be honest I don't think there is a single bad bone in his body so I don't think he has a JWH type DNA. So comparing him to some of these "bad boys" I think is totally inappropriate. What will make Taniela the best prop in the NRL is not his aggressiveness but rather his ability to bowl over opposition forwards and quickly find himself sprinting in open waters. We have seen him do this now quite a few times and almost threatened to do that a couple of times yesterday. That's what I reckon will make him the best prop in the game.

Taniela Paseka extends stay at Manly Sea Eagles with ‘lifetime’ deal

Manly have signed a third player through to at least the end of the 2029 season, with prop Taniela Paseka joining Haumole Olakau’atu and Jason Saab with fresh long-term deals.

Manly has signed giant front-rower Taniela Paseka for life.
Paseka, 26, has an existing contract for the next two years, with Manly poised to announce a further three-season extension.

The new contract will ensure Paseka will play at Brookvale until the end of the 2029 season.

By the time his new deal finishes, the Wests Tigers junior will be 31 and all but certainly see out his career as a one-club player.

The monster new deal shows the incredible faith Manly have in the 197-centimetre, 121-kilogram middle forward.

Taniela Paseka of has extended his stay with the Sea Eagles.

Paseka has played arguably the best football of his career under coach Anthony Seibold, averaging 119 metres in 46 minutes per game this season.

It is understood Manly will formally announce Paseka’s new deal sometime on Friday afternoon.

He will be the third player to commit to the club through to 2029, including second-rower Haumole Olakau’atu

Assuming Tommy makes it to 200 FG games and Reuben is signed up through until that milestone, then Taniela should become the club’s 25th player to hit the 200 mark.

Smokeys for that milestone include Froggy and Brad Parker, based on the number of FG games each has already played.

Great player, great signing. I just wish he would take a leaf out of Brownies book and charge onto the ball from a deeper position, then he'll know how devastating he really is.

Love his attitude. Thats what we want, players that love the club and want to be here

Love Paseka but that was a pretty disappointing performance following a contract extension. I don’t know what it is but he and Aloiai are good players in their own right yet we consistently start games slowly and always look far better and more lively once Brown and Bullemor come on. Really need more from our starting props because we won’t go far if they keep being dominated like they were tonight.

Hey Dorothy.. any chance of turning up for a big game? You got your mega extension, so how about stepping up.
