Jorge is a winger and not a bench player or forward.
Hahahahaha Jorge utility

I feel Des has a plan for him since he was re-signed for 2 years circa the time Api was given “the talk”. Des is going to evolve him and we have already seen the signs when he started making the big hits more constantly since the Cowboys game. See him possibly covering edge forward even back up hooker if they work on his ball playing a bit, he is a metre gainer and can see him punishing tiring defences out of dummy half, we have always operated best with alternating hookers. He might only get 20-30 mins a game but will be worth the impact value. Trust in Des, the ‘mad scientist’ has a plan for him!

GoJetSki as a part-time relief hooker is an interesting proposition .... would allow 4 forwards on the bench and he can also cover centre .... it works with Victor Radley at Rorters and they are similiar styles of player .....
Mentioned this in another thread. I reckon he would fill that role great. If he can add hooker to his arsenal he would be the perfect bench utility/impact. High intensity and covers multiple positions.

Jorge at hooker? bwahahaha.

Jorge ain’t got the smarts for hooker or anywhere but winger really. I’d be happy if he is not even the preferred first option on the wing next year. Just doesn’t do enough stuff well, unfortunately as the couple of things he does do well, he does really well

I think we erred a bit in giving him and thommo two years extra, both should’ve got one year only IMO

I guess you have more smarts than Des then considering he disagrees with what you consider an err in judgement, LOL

As for Jorge, don’t judge a book mate, ive had pleasure of conversing with the man himself, he is quite intelligent and articulate, cant say the same for Fainu from what I have seen but yet he’s our 1st choice hooker and an amazing one. Des knows all his players more intimately then we ever could, he would not make any bad retentions unless he knew something. I only speculate given the gaps and player movements in and out but Des has a plan for him.

As for Thommo, 2 years will be a win for us with his leadership of all the youngsters coming through.

I’m Talking about footy smarts, Jorge has done nothing in 7 years of First grade to show he has any of the tools to play hooker. You are basing his utility on no evidence at all. He probably has passed the ball a total of 20 times in his whole career. It would need to be double that in a single game of
Hooker. It’s ludicrous to suggest he will play hooker.

I agree thommo is a great leader, I just don’t know if he has two more years of NRL quality play left in him and ha may just block a pathway for one of our up and coming players in his second year. Better to sever ties with a player one year early than hold on to them one year long. It also sucks losing players who don’t get Game time coz the veterans hang around forever

Theres no evidence of the contrary in that case, wingers are the recipient of final passes in most part so theres nothing there to judge his footy smarts by or show enough passes to say he has no ball play., so pull your head in with the ludicrous comment mate, my guess is as good as yours! doesnt mean he cant fill the role if tried. Look at Walker, most here said he couldn’t be 5/8 and there was plenty of ‘evidence’ to back that up given past failures, but Des persevered with him and it started paying off, not saying Jorge will or wont be used that way but i see the potential there and there is no evidence to show he cant, he can bust tackles and gains plenty of metres and although slow for a winger his pace would be great for a dummy half , these are attributes that say potential, not ludicrous at all!

I don’t think I need to pull my head in on this one mate, I don’t think anyone on this site, nor the wider league watching public would agree that tafua should be played as a hooker.

He is on the wing for a reason and hasn’t got the raw materialsto be played anywhere else, his hard yards are good, but really he has never demonstrated the skill or application to play anywhere else.

Everyone can have an opinion, but some are still wrong

wow the audacity to speak for all here and the wider league, your talents are wasted on this forum mate with such insight. I have made a case for Jorge, you have only expressed you perceived bias towards him with lack of data to back it up. Hookers don’t have to take high balls, and Api has shown they don’t have to be great ball players or have great kicking games either, and I still rate Api. Jorge can be used to his strengths and be still be effective.

I see Jorges role moving forward as a utilty ‘plug gap’ but a more active role as back up dummy half, wrong or right - thankfully that answer doesn’t lie with you

I cringe every time Jorge has a run and the ensuing play the ball waiting for a school boy mistake, I shudder to see him doing that 5 or 6 times a game with a dummy half scooot and trying a quick play the ball from hooker, a hooker he is is not. I think Jorge will start on the wing in 2020 but end up been a depth player once some of the young guys recover from injuries and get a chance. If the last 3 years have shown anything we have had a lot of injuries to centres , wingers, fullbacks , Jorge included so there will be chances for him and others in the other positions for game time

His play the balls are quite safe, i often notice him play it with both hands on the ball, this however is a disciplinary aspect all players are guilty of at times and Jorge does not display this as often as your gut feeling tells you ‘might’ happen. Not trying to be an advocate for Jorge but he is far better than what many perceive of him and Des seems to agree.

A few great minds are thinking alike with this idea. I recently mentioned having Fainu play for 80 minutes from next year but to carry a forward on the bench who is handy passing out of dummy half

This is the way I see it, we have 4 spots to fill in Top 30 plus the 6 Dev squad spots

  1. Turbo
  2. Elliot
  3. Garrick
  4. Jorge
  5. Suli
  6. Parker
  7. Walker
  8. DCE
  9. Smith
  10. Hoppa Jnr
  11. Metcalf
  12. Cust
  13. Croker
  14. Jake
  15. Siro
  16. Thompson
  17. Jack G
  18. Waddell
  19. Paseka
  20. Sipley
  21. Quacomole
  22. Marty
  23. AFB
  24. Fainu
  25. Boyle
  26. Keppie

Top 30 Questions still over Funa, Perrett, Kioa plus not sure whether a few are contracted for next year eg Croker etc

Dev squad still questions over where these will be in Dev or Blacktown - Anderson, Trex, ZDC, miski,

Acquisitions Possibly Musgrave, Issac Luke

They've just signed up Schuster, potentially the next big thing. No way they will leave him out of at worst a development squad position. And Ben T. could and possibly should also get a development spot. I doubt that they will need both Croker and Metcalfe. One will go. Cust will be in the squad. Musgrove wasn't signed to sit in reserves either. Trex maybe. Anderson, ZDC a maybe in development squad.. Miski I doubt. Cant see Funa and Kioa getting a guernsey, unless they show something outstanding over the summer. Luke wont be coming.

I believe Gosiewski would be wasted at hooker. Also not sure we need 4 forwards on the bench. AFB plays huge minutes and Thommo siro and jake are all 80 minute players. Even waddell and Gosiewski as depth showed they can play 80 so personally not sure the need to carry 4 forwards. Gosiewski will get a bench spot but not sure about him regularly playing time at hooker. Hooker is a Specialist position and we need great service from there to get us rolling up field.

Such a specialist position these days , agree 100%

Good hookers and halves need to be quick thinkers have great vision and throw great passes. It is difficult to manufacture that skill set. I would be bringing in another young upcoming talented hooker to become the apprentice whilst Fainu steps up to the tradesman's position.

Totally against a manufactured hooker. Get fainu match fit for 80. Play a bench of jack g, waddell, keppie and sipley/paseka.
