Salary Cap Position

Agree, but one thing to keep in mind is that by the time the boom SG Ball kids are demanding big $$$ in FG, DCE will be 33-34 years old and the cap position could change dramatically.

But take your point.
And we can throw him a testimonial to pay for all the back ended deals..by then hoping we should have an upgraded stadium to pack in.

The other thing about our cap (as others have mentioned) is that it's not as simple as just paying a player the Matai/Snake money...there are upgrades, players earning more next year than this year etc. It's a complex equation.

That's exactly it. Next year won't be as simple as having that extra million or so to spend on new signings. Players like the Turbo's have upgrade extensions coming, we'll be paying full price for Uate and I think Siro rather than having their former clubs paying most of their salary. And others like Kelly will possibly get an upgrade.

The $1 million we save by having Snake and Skivvy off the books might only be a couple of hundred thousand when it comes down to it.

If @Dan's cronk prediction comes true there's going to have to be juggling act better than Sole bro's circus could produce.....

But then again Myles is gone and I don't think we are paying his contract. Were we paying a bit of Buhrer's contract as well? We probably have a decent amount left in the cap (with cap increase as well) I reckon it's a Million, could be wrong

If he even sets foot on the northern beaches it comes off our cap. For years girds and Freddie lived on the peninsula and we copped the cap hit. Thanks TODD!!!
Damn it !!
Beat me to it Shoe..

Next yr will be the true test of Uate's value. This yr he was playing on the motivation of being snubbed by Knights/Brown and Manly only had to cough up minimal money. But next yr Manly will be fitting the total

And it took Girds at least 5 years to find his way to making a good coffee - now he is all kombucha and fermented food hippy sh!te, send him to Clovelly already!

Manly are in a precarious cap position because they are making way for Matt Moylan. He is all but signed, sealed and delivered, however we need to play Tetris over the next couple of weeks to get it all to fit. It may mean we have to release another player...Gould sent Jennings to the Roosters with his blessing and now he is sending Moylan our way in order to free up the inevitable cap space required for their club to keep Clearly...they understand the best way to make that happen and still have a quality spine, is to concentrate on Tyrone May and Dylan Edwards; Penrith could have both of those players for the combined salary that Moylan is on.
i can't wait to see how rothfield 'breaks' this info as a scoop in tomorrows paper😉

Talented player. I just hope he is not high maintenance. I think there is a bit that has been left unsaid at Penrith.

If you're lying...

That's just too good.

I heard Moylan speaking on MMM back in 2015 after we signed Baz. Moylan was raving about Baz and how much he had helped him with his game. You could tell he had a lot of respect for Baz.

I respect that you have an in at the club snake, but this news does not fill me with real optimism... If we have signed a guy who was getting $700k at Penrith to me that means that they will not be letting him go to another club to pay part of his contract, which means that any club will be paying his full contract and that means if according to your info and we have to release a player to accommodate him(any guy lost would logically be Green at $300k) the max that we are under the cap is about $400k.We may release and sign other players in time but if we are placing our hopes of improvement in a guy with a rep. who has not performed at international level or state of origin level or even consistently at club level(panthers are playing better without him).We are possibly going to pay big bucks to a guy who is no lock to improve this side. This is no Kennedy,Kite,Lyon type of signing(or even Orford),many will disagree but the money could be spread around better, and if anyone questions where I would spend it,I have made suggestions previously.....as I said, not bagging the messenger buddy, just the news.
