Sack Spoony Siebold

The soap opera continues. That's fine - it generates discussion. There's an enormous amount of opinion masquerading as fact being thrown about - like a keyboard version of NRL 360 on Fox.

Just as long as we are aware that these are subjective statements (just opinions, not verifiable facts). Subjective vs Objective - Difference and Comparison | Diffen

Also, there's an inference that because the Broncos received the wooden spoon during Seibold's tenure as coach there, he is responsible / solely responsible / chiefly responsible for this. Maybe he was not. Perhaps the truth is complex. Correlation vs Causation: What’s the Difference and Why It Matters- Conference Inc.

Seriously? It sounds like the mindset is we shouldn’t expect to win without Tom, so a close loss is praiseworthy. Just like the “free throw at the stumps” in that Souths game last year. Unbelievable from a first grade NRL coach to be continually “proud” about losses. What message does he think that sends to the players. Sweet, we don’t need to bust our arses to win because the coach will be ok with a close loss.

The only thing to like about today’s game was that we weren’t beaten by more by a clearly out of sorts sharks team. And it was only close because of some flukey individualist tries which had nothing to do with team structures or coaching.

Unbelievable that some people on here can’t see the bleeding obvious.
Seriously mate, I couldn't stomach listening to it. It made me want scream obscenities at the tv. I had to turn it off. We all watched the game today and concluded that the team played like crap.

Our coach and captain were proud.

Let that sink in.

Everything about the coach screams “out of my depth”. I’ve already written off the captain, so couldn’t care less what he says.

Everything I say is a verifiable fact. It’s up to you to prove otherwise.

Nb Seibold can have half a spoon if that makes people think he is a better coach.

Honestly, our attack today was absolutely bereft of any meaningful direction. Apart from two intercept trays we were complete crap. This guy is one dimensional in his coaching. The Warriors made him look silly in Auckland. The Storm made him look very silly at Brookvale. And an off their game Sharks made him look like the pop gun attack coach he so obviously is.

Oh, and he's just too bloody nice, as if he's so scared of upsetting the players.
So Siebold is the one out on the field running the team? I thought that was DCE’s job!

Agreed. Yet Spoon continues to pick Sipley who continues to be exposed consistently through the middle and offers very little punch in attack despite his obvious size. We are a dad’s army pack, with most of the forwards on the wrong side of thirty. We are in big trouble this season. We should do WHATEVER is possible move DCE on because we aren't winning anything this year. Put the money towards front ending a few contracts and have a real crack at recruiting a quality backrower and prop.
So now you’re saying it’s our forward pack & DCE not Siebold’s coaching? Lololol….

Great coaches are great motivators which ensures players play consistent football weekly.

Spoon has failed at achieving consistency in all but one season in his NRL coaching career. He is living off that one year he had coaching a red hot Souths squad. People forget Bennett took over the Bunnies a year later and almost beat Penrith in a Grand Final without Latrell Mitchell.

I can't see how Spoon ever wins a GF.
Ivan Cleary says hello! Jason Ryles says hello! Des Hasler says hello! Twent Wobinson says hello!

Ivan Cleary claps back at you with six GFs and four premierships. Des Hasler blows you a kiss loaded with five GFs and two premierships. Twenty Robinson gives you the three fingered salute with three premiership rings. Jason Ryles says this is my first season, Spoon is onto his third, come and see how I'm doing in a couple of years.

You're bloody mad Max, comparing multi premiership winning coaches with the Spoon.

Let's bring back Mason and Myles... hell, let's throw in another decade refusing to buy a specialised hooker.

Between DCE's self-sabotaging hand grenade and another limp dik season from Turbo's body... well, let's just say its hard to be a Sea Eagle's supporter these days. We are becoming closer and closer to Tigpies each season.

The Seibold Scavengers are in full attack mode i see.

Sure Bellamy, Bennett and co would do a better job than Seibold

but while around $3.5m of the salary cap is dedicated to Tom (never plays), Jake (too slow) and DCE (checked out) we will be nothing more than a mediocre team.

Look at the forwards we ran out with yesterday - that's a result of the salary cap and the deals given to our top three earners, my friends.

We aren't in a "premiership window" until those deals roll off the books. The club isn't playing Moneyball because they want to - it's because they have no money under the cap

That is the result from our Retention and recruitments under Mestrov and Seibold for the past 3 years
Caches like Bellamy recruit Bargain priced younger players and Build them up
Whilst we recruit Retirement players and we wind them down .
We have become a reactive club and not a proactive club that can only offer excuses for our circumstances . We need to Invest in leaders that are able to find Solutions to our cause

Did you actually read my post?

Its because of the contracts given primarily to the Turbos - when was that done? 5 years ago?

Mestrov cant magically move them off the books (unless they are prepared to pay a heap of freight of course)

Yes I have read your post
But Bellamy also has Marquee players like Munster , Hughes and Papenhuyzen on their Books
Ryan Papenhuyzen's current deal with the Melbourne Storm is worth around $1.1 million for 2025, including endorsements.

But What the Storm dont have is Mestrov and Seibold running the show
Have a Good day feathered friend

I don't think Seibold is the best coach but he isn't the worst and I don't think sacking him will do much to improve our lot in life. I get the frustration but we've tried sacking coaches Tooves, Barrett, Des and how did that work out for us? A short period of hope that things will improve and then normal service resume. It's always just more of the same and it will be more of the same if they sack Seibold. Our owners are too stingy and wouldn't stump up for tier 1 coach anyway.

At the moment Seibold is still hamstrung by an unbalanced salary cap with too much money on players that are being over paid for what they are delivering .... DCE, Turbo, BenT and Jake. He didn't sign any of those players to any of those long term "overs" deals and imagine if he actually tried to off load Jake or Turbo...... there would be an outcry of all outcries. OK, perhaps DCE not overs but he hasn't delivered much in his 15 years here and whilst we were over paying him in the early years of his contact we couldn't recruit decent players around him to enable us to be competitive or win anything. Whilst we have those overs contracts in place he / we can't sign any of the decent blatantly obvious forwards we need to support our "weapons". which means all he can do is go for money ball forward signings.

The blame for where the club has sat for the last 10 years starts at the top and that falls squarely on the shoulders of the Penn family. As long as they remain you can change all the coaches you want but we aren't getting much better than what we've seen for the last 10+ years.
