Adam O'Brien doesn't want another head coach gig but would like a job as an assistant. Same manager as Seibold.

What are the odds he ends up at Manly?

So , it’s a given the Sack Seidud crew aren’t getting their wishes granted in 2025.

So now the real question starts.

How many rounds will he make in 2026.

We might need , prior to kick off 2026 , a poll.

8 rounds

Half way through

20 rounds

It’ll be one of those and if it’s a horror start ( 1 from 7) I’ll pick 8 rounds but the logic says 20 rounds.

Has to be no later than half way. Penn can hire a new cheap shiny new thing coach and make a big grand announcement about the premiership window being open again. We'll need coaching sorted by half way because 2027 is the first time we'll have money available to go to the market and finally recruit some non plodders to our pack. Without a decent coach sorted it will be very hard to do that.

I don't think it's any assurance that Seibold isn't sacked before the end of the year.

I don't think it was ever going to happen prior to Round 27 because $$$. From a neutral perspective, it would be incredibly fruitless, especially that we're still in finals contention. What if Penn went out in the SMH or DT and say "yeah we're sacking him but not yet". What exactly would that achieve?

I don't think he's entirely to blame for our season's faults, in fact, that lies largely with one individual. But Seibold hasn't done himself any favours either... He could've played Navale a lot sooner, said that he was "preparing for the future" or something like that, and took on the losses... But no.

He has recruited a good batch of juniors, and unlike some, I do believe these are good young players, they're not just "there". I've levelled that criticism myself in the past, but I don't think it applies here. My concern is that he's signed these juniors, but has no idea how to get them into first grade.

If you wanted to give Walsh a taste of NRL, maybe put him on the bench? Maybe give him some outside backs training as cover? Give Navale minutes? So far it just seems ad-hoc, and situational. No doubt Penn & Mestrov recognise this, if some leaks are to be believed.

Honestly I'm just apathetic to this whole situation at this point, if he goes or stays, I literally couldn't care less.

Lol! Mestrov at a stretch,at least he's played a bit of top level footy.
But you seriously suggest Penn is a person capable of assessing the merit in whatever Seibs is doing or not doing? Penn knows what a good coach should be doing???
Let alone he's not even here but observing by zoom from NY

Unless we got one of the top 5 coaches - which will never happen in a million years - it is simply change for change's sake.
I'm a better judge than Penn and I'm leaving Seibold here next season. If next season goes south, then yes, he misses out on the 2027 shopping spree.

i love living in these almost “DCE free years” manly brother. Can you feel the serenity.

Manly are destined to be mediocre in that i believe they financially exist almost entirely on NRL grants. Penn knows this and has been pretty happy to get involved in Vlandy land and play the good guy , in a game where good guys always lose

So the shoestring sea eagles probably need to recruit differently for success or we get more of the same and that includes coach

We probably need a strategy similar to
A series of talented hungry juniors ready break down doors
A capable hungry leadership group
No nonsense forwards
A super coach, not seibs , cheap , so a gamble on youth, but the right TBAZ. Anyone who uses GUS as a reference is a NO
And we need them to happen together at just the right time

Transition smoothly and steady never starts with a WITCH HUNT.
Its getting very monty python

BUT I will never complain if manly improve in any area though , so if manly have been experimenting on a “frankenbellamy” under the old grandstand, its see ya later seibs. Ding Dong, the wit………changed my mind quickly .

Go the eagles

Warren ryan dropped steve mortimer from memory and it worked out ok

Fair enough, in response I'll quote what I posted to @The Who who also selectively quoted my post.

I'll also add the fact the club severed ties with the Western pathways system implemented by the Fultons & brought it back to our local catchment area. Obviously it will take time to see results from that since it only happened last year.
I haven’t selectively quoted your post. You asked me if Walsh, Large and co. represent an investment in youth and I don’t think they do. I believe Seibold chased older heads (Brooks, Lodge, Brown, and co.) for experience, not because he was hamstrung by the cap or biding his time. Sure, he couldn’t chase a marquee buy but there’s plenty of youth to be poached at a reasonable price. I feel he made a concerted effort to chase experience, believing youth cost him success in Brisbane. I’m not saying I’m right, but that’s my take on it.

This quote “These guys obviously have to develop & come through the system” is not really nullifying my initial perspective; of course they’ll take time but an investment in youth means these’s a swarm of others that are already good to go. Instead, we’ve just had Hoppa. Faulalo is 25 and no generational talent.

Interesting that Foz is coaching next years at the Titans.

One to watch closely - fits the Manly DNA bill, plus if he coaches the way he played could be lured south

That was under daddy Des.

Will Hannay keep him on staff.

Disagree that he fit's the Manly DNA. It was Foran who lied to Manly to screw us and his actions directly led to Manly offering DCE the lifetime deal.

You could use that argument to keep Seibold

I could but I won't...

If he gets released halfway through next year we would end up with a caretaker coach... and caretaker coaches rarely become full-time NRL head coaches of note. So we wouldn't learn anything about who should be the next full time coach.

If in fact Mr Fluffy was going to sack the coach , he should do it now and appoint a new one for the transition year ( 2026) allowing him to be onboard and entrenched for what should be a more rewarding ( recruitment wise) period mid / late next year.

Which makes me think that Seibold or Seidud , or Spoonbold , or Spoony ( whatever you chose to call him) will in fact be the coach for a good many years to come.

I do state , I’m ambivalent neither a hater or a lover just giving an opinion on the non sacking ( to date ).

I don't think Seibs will be sacked. The confident manner in which Brent Read and Rothfield have reported that Seibs is safe has me thinking he is okay. Despite the disdain toward journalists, they all desire to be held in high esteem and that comes by getting things right. A scoop is still very much sought after in sports journalism and all the mail is saying Seibold is safe.

Merge both clubs. Current both are in a race to the bottom. Together there may be a future for one mighty Northern NSW club.
