This is what I was told today.Reliable source but take it with a grain of salt if you wish

“DCE didn’t extend after Seibold was given extension

DCE, Jake and Tom held meeting with Mestrov last yr before the Seibold extension to tell him Seibold was not the future and he didn't have the support of the players, Mestrov few weeks later extends him

On sacking Seibold, will be at end of season

If Seibold gets sacked before end of season it enacts a 12 month payout

If he gets sacked end of season based on full season poor performance its a 6 month payout

Mestrov last yr wanted Brad Arthur before then extending Seibold, Moses convinced him to stick with Seibold and that if they did he "promised" he would deliver Galvin...”

.
Hmm. So DCE not a fan, and someone mentioning Turbos not a fan...

Could it be Mr Seibold is prepared to ship out an aged (DCE and Jake) and busted (Turbo) Manly leadership group/salary cap deadweight in order to reshape the squad for 2026-27?

If so its a ballsy move. Bad move? Not really, people around here have been moaning about Turbo and Jurbo all season and about DCE for far longer.

Maybe part of the reason for signing some older experienced heads on short-term deals was to mitigate the influence of the soon-to-be outgoing leaders?

(Don't worry, just my little conspiracy theory, looks like nearly everyone has one, so..!)

Seebo seems a bit too corporate. I’m sure he presents well, croaky voice aside. Articulate, not at all stupid. Has a lot of good research backed science on how to construct a training regimen, build a team and win a game. Someone else here wrote his talents could be better suited to Rugby and I would add American football or hockey or some other dumb shiiiit…I think these guys would go better with someone who is equal parts caring and terrifying. Someone with some humour. A leader…A Manly player preferably. The candidates i have largely seen mentioned don’t fill me with much enthusiasm. I don’t know who should get the gig… Sadly we’ll be winning f all while Seibold remains.
All good points, Fred. But seriously, if our players can't motivate themselves to provide more than the absolute sh#t sandwich they have dished up this year, we are stuffed.

Taking the coaching out of it for a minute (I know - probably not the right thread to be doing it), our senior players haven't shown anything like leadership, skill or commitment all year. They have been woe-is-me woeful. I hope it's because of Cherry, and I hope we'll show some rapid improvement in application and attitude when he is finally gone, but I suspect we need to be rid of a lot more of them before any coach can start to make an impact on this team.

It’s a ‘results driven business’ apparently
Why we pissed off Toovey for Barrett, pissed off Barret for Des, then pissed off Des for Seibold
Successful clubs seem to have more stability in this space
Parra had stability with BA... didn't win them much - other than a spoon

Big chance. The frog is in the group too

The Frog is just about my favourite of that lot just now.
His form is not good, and he may never get it back, but he's as gutsy as they come. Made 50 tackles last game.
But he's not an elite dummy half. Best case he can transition to a Cam McInnes type role. Otherwise ... he's contracted for 2026 and I haven't heard of any urgent attempts to re-sign him...!

mine too, cant find a position for him but still could have him captain. but he has the support of the group

Making 50 tackles & missing 8 as a 80 minute hooker isn’t some great stat anymore. It’s not out of the ordinary for hookers to be making that many tackles every week, you can go & check yourself about other tackle counts if you want.

The difference between him & another hooker like Brailey that plays 80 is he would never have a game with 0 run metres, 0 try assists, 0 line breaks & 0 line break assists. Not even close to being good enough for a 1st grader, especially when Turbo is struggling.

Ballin coach in 2026

Jason King Ceo 2026

please!!
But, how long will that make you happy , we start losing again , we sign someone because the club can’t get a superstar ???

The real problem is we are a budget football club , operating on the minimums granted to us and whilstever we are getting record membership / full houses the owner is making a tidy return.

Whilst I’m sure he’d love to see us win a GF, I’d suggest the main game is ROI ( and he’d be getting a tidy sum).

Indeed.
To all the people saying Sack Seibs immediately, that's fine, but who do you think Manly would replace him with?
Let's call the next saviour Coach Joe ... so, precisely how long do you think it would be until we had a proliferation of Sack Joe threads here on ST?
I predict... not very long!

We would all love a mega rich owner who spends his weekends at the games and his weekdays scouting the bush for new recruits. Call me crazy, but that seems a tad unrealistic.

The owner ain’t going anywhere so it is completely pointless to wish otherwise, and to then use that as a crutch to say we can’t do anything else to fix the joint.

Who would we replace Seibs with? I don’t know, but let’s do something left field like inviting applicants, conducting interviews, and gradually getting down to a shortlist that represent best fit for the role. By my rough count, there are over 30 fulltime assistant coaches in the league who presumably have aspirations for a head coach role. Maybe we could start there?

Or maybe you are right. Let’s stick with a losing coach because we can’t get anyone else. That has worked well for every other professional sporting team in history.

Haha yes that would be great for attracting people who can write a slick CV and answer questions impressively at an interview.

Is this how the Dogs recruited Ciraldo? Or how any of the top clubs recruited their coach?

Let’s see, invite applicants… no-one any good applies. Next minute we have to go cap in hand to someone reasonable and offer them double to please please please come. Or we hire an untried rookie. Maybe the next Trent Barrett?

If Seibold is sacked why not just decide who we want and try to lure them. Better than calling for applications and conducting interviews.

And no I didn’t say retain Seibold because we can’t get anyone else.

(and I asked you before who you think would get us a premiership but you were too shy to say!)

I expect Seibold won't be the head coach in 2026. I hope they have already started their search for his replacement who will need time to assemble his preferred coaching staff. Staring to warm to the Brad Arthur idea with Balin and Watmough as assistant coaches.

The old Manly boys appreciated Arthur as an assistant. I'm fairly certain that's why Choc left to join Parra, just for Arthur. I don't mind the Arthur choice, with Choc and Ballin as assistants. Arthur seems a bit old school, which is what we need. None of this high school 7-minute meeting stuff; the players would know where they stand with Arthur before they're given a piece of paper about their performances.

I'd bring Foz in too as the halves coach. Such a great footy brain and the way he freed up Campbell and AJ against us was all class.
