You don't think a looming back-ended contract of $2.4m for Jake & Tom in 2026 has anything to do with the quality of recruitment we've had the past 2 years?

Given that the club have also re-signed Olakau'atu, Garrick & Saab, upgraded Lehi as well as continued to pay Schuster during that same period?

Oh that's right, it's all Seibold's fault (not Des').
Guess that is the thing also , irrespective who coaches the side next season , still going to have virtually the same squad and cap restrictions with Fogarty the likely only notable addition
Bearing in mind , Ennis would have some influence to the coaching input already so not sure if he could offer that much more but a bit of an unknown in the practical sense right now
But as the old adage goes , still need the right cattle on the paddock to get the desired results or maximize them
Might just have to shake the mix up a bit regardless the coach in 26 , maybe Walsh as a 6 , Brooks a 14 role and also 9 option . Large to maybe be fast tracked as a centre with a permanent role in mind for 27 with Koula if some uncertainty with Garrick staying on
Jake to prop with Paseka , Bully and T K O [ maybe a couple of young props not too far off either ]
Hart to push for a backrow spot , wonder if he could be transitioned into a 13 but does look more a natural edge type player
Would have to include a competitive 13 somehow however , maybe Navale with a bit more experience

Are reports correct manly had discussed ~750k with DCE, which shows market value if Roosters offered 800k.

Easy for me to say in hindsight, but imagine DCE for another year or 2 even at 750k.

Im unsure if true that dce got his nose out of joint because of that offer from manly, but Seibs and the club at least did not feel obliged to offer him overs just because of his time here and being captain. Perhaps it was hoped DCE would not accept or they thought it was a fair offer.

The same mistake was made with turbo/turbo, and atleast the club sees this overpaying has to stop.

Absolutely not. Recruitment is about getting the best players you can to fill the most needed positions with the money available to you.

The failure here is all on Seibold.

Waddell, Nathan Brown, and the Great White Whale Lodge.

Hideous

Actually werent back ended contract's out lawed by the NRL before 2019 ?

Souths have had far more players out due to injury and they are only 1 win behind Manly.Manly have basically had a full backline to pick from every week. That tells you all you need to know about the respective coaches
If you had to choose between losing your forward pack and losing your backline, I'd choose losing the backline.

Having crap backs will limit your points, having crap forwards means you can't even get into the contest.

ok thank you ,so that BS that Jake and Tom will soak up 2.4 next year ?
I didn’t say that, they may very well, but they soak up $2 million or a bit more now,so it’s not a hell of a lot of extra. Its only a lot of $$ now due to their form.Tom comes out next year and gets anywhere near his best and it’s a bargain.Obviously that’s a big if

Murray,Moale,

Koloamatangi and Tatola have missed big chunks of the season.Murray, who is better than any of Manly’s forwards,IMO,hasn’t played a game thus far

I explained how the rule changed in 2018 on another thread
I think this is it
Thanks!

Look, I’m really proud of Siebs’ efforts. He’s had a great preparation but just couldn’t deploy some of his weapons.
“I’m not using this as an excuse, but [excuse A,B,C].” As long as you preface any excuse with the words “this is not an excuse” you are good to go. Genius.
