What do you do about TTurbo if you are Manly? Obviously the guy is an out and out gun, best player in the comp when fully fit. The problem is, when is he ever fully fit? Even at 75% he’s still a gun but these injuries are racking up and this whole season, he has looked a shell of his former self (which is still better than many players). Do you put him in cotton wool or keep trying to manage him? There have to be long term question marks too.

You work with the guy* to keep him on field and playing as many minutes as possible. He's a local product (which is worth gold) and a marketing gold mine for the club plus he's a consummate professional who will do whatever he can to get and remain fit.
He's clearly going through some quite significant adjustments at present so patience is the key word.

*admittedly there's more than a couple on Silvertails who don't agree with me - but they're wrong, I tell you!

Do you think he pulls himself out of origin now that he's picked up another soft tissue injury.

Manly fans must be ****ting themselves thinking about Turbo playing three games of origin. With resting, origin and the byes, he could barely be sighted in a manly jersey for the 6 weeks or so of the origin period

Wonder if he's tried to change his running style to avoid another hamstring injury and jn doing so created another issue?

Luke Metcalf at warriors atm is going through something kind of similar where he's done his hamstring a few times now so they're trying to adjust his running style so it doesn't keep happening

I dont think anyone really thought they didnt recruit a good forward pack. Its their backline thats the issue. Aitken is decent. Isaako surprisingly has been quality for them. Brenko and Jennings not so much. Hammer has been a great pick up.

I thought they were really going to struggle with their halves options, however Katoa and O'Sullivan were very good in the early rounds and Nikorima is doing an adequate job in O'Sullivan's absence. The 5-3 record is pretty remarkable.

Go Warriors!

I think you guys are in with a good chance.

Hopefully I'm not the only one.

Feel like there should be a game on tonight. Withdrawal symptoms.

Maybe they could show the Raiders, as the bye team, doing a training run or something to fill in the gap?

Annercelery has said the outcome of a hip drop is important - there you have it - the NRL are admitting they make their judgments based on injury, every player has just been given even more of a licence to dive.

Is it really so much to ask to have some competent people in NRL officialdom?

Is there any movement on rewarding a classical round the legs tackle? I have seen some discussion on the League shows but absolutely nothing from the officials.

They probably don't know what to implement without it being corrupted instantly.

Whatever they try to do should be tested in Qcup and NSW cup first before bringing straight into NRL

That's poor in itself. But Haas' tackle is not a hip drop, so injury is irrelevant. Are they now going to penalise all types of tackles if an injury occurs, even if it was a freak accident or was a result predominantly due to the actions of the attacker (not defender). Because that is where it's headed. And yes, diving then becomes a seriously viable tactic.

I was listening to a Superleague podcast ( i'll try to find which one it was and link it ) and apparently last year because of players staying down there was a behind closed doors meeting with the RFL and the teams and they basically got told if diving carried on into this year players were going to be taken off for 5 mins and it would be classed as an interchange if the injury wasnt legit. Dont know how they were going to police that, but there has been very little diving this year so far.

Exactly ... there's no way a halfback or important spine member is going to lie down early on if it means he's off the field for 5-10mins and costing his team.

They'll do it if it's absolutely necessary to get their team the win, but they're not doing it 3mins into the game like what's happening at the moment

Having the risk of it actually costing an interchange as well is massive.

Also they should still be sent to the injury bin even if it's not a penalty... so it becomes a lottery if they get a penalty or not (in the first place), but they still go to an injury bin regardless.

The issue to me at the moment is the ref so quickly paying the penalty... there's no deterrent to diving at all.

Players aren't even being sent for HIA's and are still getting the penalty anyway.

They said at the start of the year they'd only be paying penalties if they were reportable offenses, which was already the rule... and they don't even enforce it... so they've dropped the same rule again already

On the Tom Turbo question. Leave him out of the team until about round 24 so he can properly heal.

Bring him back just before the playoffs.

Yous got what you wanted.

Sadly, it’s a far better comp to watch these days. Big hits get rewarded, not penalised. Dives aren’t accepted as much and the crowds are better. Sure the standard is ‘lower’ but decisions are far less of a lottery.
