Well done to our Sea Eagles brethren, that is the sort of win that are worth their weight in gold. Not playing that well and still pull it out of the fire. I really feel for Tigers' fans. They actually had that in the bag and basically panicked. They just have to get rid of Brooks yesterday, I've never seen anyone like him who will pick the wrong option 99 times out of 100.

Call me cruel but I’m sort of enjoying watching the Tigers losing streak. Well done Manly!!

Real courageous from the Phins to fight back for the win, but obviously the bigger story is the Tits. I mean seriously, that is just unforgivable;

to insipidly give up a healthy lead like that, on ANZAC weekend no less, I would be legit livid if I were Justin Holbrook. NO ONE shoyuld be safe from the axe this week. Any asshole that dares to slack off at training would be out on his ass.

Round 14 3rd June we host the Dolphins at Mt Smart. The "easier" games if you can call them that tend to be in the second half of the season.
By then they will be played into form lol

All that remains is for the Warriors to keep Melbourne to under 70 and we can call it another successful week for this elite cross-forum endeaver.

Does it matter? Those players still played top tier and have learnt from it. It would be just as easy to point out that Lazo was no longer playing for Australia.

That is debatable. The game has changed and they have WB. Not to mention that the NRL has changed its approach to the game. Plus the Dolphins are an established club.
Yes, otherwise we're talking about fringe first graders who could barely get a run at other clubs.

It would be just as easy to point out that Lazarus was still representing NSW and was straight into the Australian side when he was available to be picked.

At the end of the day, this is all besides the point. The effort they produced in the second half is exactly what the Dolphins need moving forward and they should be proud about it.

@BroncosFan Did you see the play where Cherry-Evans bobbled the ball around then knock it back with his hands for Koroisau to pounce on it? It seemed like the referee just ruled play on, so I think if you can knock it back with the hands it's fine. However if you knock it forward with the hands but then backwards off the body it's still a lost ball from my understanding.

Of course it would be great if we had the rules right infront of us but the NRL can't even tell us what a knock on is in general play.

Yeah saw the bobble when trying to offload then he throws a hand at it to knock it back.

Would suggest that if your last action is to purposely knock it back then play on... which I think is fine.

If this is in regards to the Hiku knock on from round 2 then I'd say your later point suggests it was a knock on, as I thought it went forward off his hands into his shoulder and then marginally goes back from there... but who the fck knows what the rules are when it comes to the level of incompetency across NRL refs.

Their interpretations change within a game, let alone from game to game or week to week.

Yes, otherwise we're talking about fringe first graders who could barely get a run at other clubs.
But that is not true, because having Australian/NZ tier footballers or fringe in your team does not mean you can't get a spoon. Broncos have shown that the last few years with Haas and Coates. To say that they get selected on performance is also dependent on the team as a whole, as Oates and Fifita will attest.

So, Redcliffe having players that have had representative players in the past, may again have representative players based on team performance. Sometimes they are fringe players because they have lost a passion, or are not marketable. It takes a good coach to unlock their talents and their effort. That is where WB is a huge factor.

Furthermore, basing your argument on which tier country of representative football they play is quite unfair. Choosing to play for Samoa or Tonga over New Zealand is a personal choice, and quite a noble one at that. It allows those lesser tier countries to improve. Does that mean that they are not at a representative level were they available for New Zealand or Australia? Milford, no, Isaako, probably, Staggs, definitely, for example.

At the end of the day, this is all besides the point. The effort they produced in the second half is exactly what the Dolphins need moving forward and they should be proud about it.
That is true. They have put in huge efforts, and the talent that is there has been unlocked to a good extent.

I dont think anyone really thought they didnt recruit a good forward pack. Its their backline thats the issue. Aitken is decent. Isaako surprisingly has been quality for them. Brenko and Jennings not so much. Hammer has been a great pick up.

Which is why I'm not that particularly fazed by representative selections. It's too misleading, especially when we're using past representative players who bombed out and have been in and out of first grade since.

The only player I made the point of regarding representative footy was Brett Kimmorley. Not because I thought he was a gun signing, but simply to demonstrate he wasn't some no-name rookie before he signed. Even then, I didn't consider him a marquee signing.

Point being, considering what the assignment was when they received their license and the amount of players they missed out on, to put on a second half like that was really character building for the franchise.

The difference is that the last contact with the hands was going backwards before it touched something non-him. The one where it was lost forwards, then deflected backwards from a body part only became a knock-on when it hit the ground. The same would occur if it hit another player. In theory a player could bobble it 100 times, knock it forwards off the hands, hackey-sack it with the foot, head it in the air, knock it forward again but if they dive for it and bat it backwards before it hits the ground, it's knocked back.

What do you do about TTurbo if you are Manly? Obviously the guy is an out and out gun, best player in the comp when fully fit. The problem is, when is he ever fully fit? Even at 75% he’s still a gun but these injuries are racking up and this whole season, he has looked a shell of his former self (which is still better than many players). Do you put him in cotton wool or keep trying to manage him? There have to be long term question marks too.

Right! i do see how rolling it forward is a knock on, but in a fraction of a second, at the same time as downward pressure, how do you make the call either way?

On field call should trump bunker slowing it down to 100 frames a second to see if he rolls it forward before applying downward pressure.

Will, if it was the Warriors, it will always be a knock on. If it was the Roosters, Storm, or Panthers, it will be a try. The next level down is if they’re a team the bunker reviewer has in their picking or TAB bets for the week. The next level is whether any of the players involved are in their fantasy team. And, finally, they flip a coin.

It’s a pretty simple process really and nothing to do with the tv monitors in the bunker.

For they were Warriors ..... these mighty men of Valour

If there is no separation, even if the ball is pushed down forwards then it has not been, by definition, knocked on.

Frustrating how these minuscule technical interpretations are being made. Lots in play the ball or knock ons that you need a microscope to find.
