Game Day: Raiders v Sea Eagles [Round 4, 2018]

Hooray! Finally got to see the game.

No one did the YMCA dance for me. Boo.

Sometimes I shake my head at the "Have thought- must post" lack of filter in game day threads that we all have, but it does make for entertaining reading when you read it all at once.

It's a pity that some get a bit negative after a win so quickly. (esp those that are fans and not trolls, presumably).

It's like:
Pre game: we're gunna lose, that's just how it is
Post game: we won, yay!
Post game + 1 millisecond: wont make the finals though/gunna get smashed next week/etc.

But keep posting what you like. Generally even **** opinions are allowed.

Thought it was a good game, a good win and hopefully more of the same next week!

The Eagles are on track after round 4,the Newcastle Rooster/Knights loss was bad luck.Souths was a wake up call.
Yesterday was just an awesome first half and Canberra were always coming back after half time.

Not sure how many people have seen it, but I'm a few minutes from where the Geelong Cats play (hahahaha, Cats - how soft), and their stadium is ****ing impressive.

Brookvale Oval, and Northern Beaches council should be ashamed of themselves.

To be fair, Geelong is the Victorian equivalent of Newcastle (albeit about 30mins closer car travel time.
Industrial city who pride themselves on being " not Melbourne".

It isn't really a fair comparison with suburban Brookvale's situation.
Agree that council should be ashamed with our current state.

What’s really frustrating is that if the season ending injuries of last night are attributable to the playing surface, then both the Council and the Penns should be ashamed of themselves.

There is no reason why with at least $12 million in government grants earning interest in bank accounts somewhere, they could not at least reach agreement on a complete rebuild of the playing surface. The cost would only be in the $1-2 million range.

This is 2018. Not 1970 (when the ground was rectangularised). Injuries like last night’s remind me of the 2010 season - a terrible one for leg injuries at Brookvale.

Michael Regan (noted Manly supporter...cough, cough) was the mayor back in 2010 as well. What is happening with the sponsorship money from Lottoland? Wasn’t most (if not all) of that money intended to meet the annual upkeep of Brookvale Oval?

I watched the replay and Kelepi was tackled
Then another Raiders player came up behind him and whilst hanging off Kelepi, wrapped both his leg around Kelepi's right one to wrestle him to the ground 28th minute 😡

Siro flew across a runner and merely landed on his right leg and collapsed. So the twisting of his leg happened before then.😎

Same thing happened with Wolfie. A Knights players twisted his leg in a first half tackle, then 5 minutes into the second half Wolfie collapsed with a torn ACL 😕

Some orthopedic specialist has to come up with a soft knee brace for these sportsmen

I think Manly of 2016-2017 probably let Canberra right back in the game last night...as scrappy as the second half was, I think it was great the way we were able to halt the Faiders momentum after their back to back tries. The way Tom T celebrated Wright's second try really indicated to me that the team were quite nervous until that breakthrough.

Take the win, take the positives. And then think about some areas for improvement.

Tom Ts barnstorming was brilliant. aFB had his best game ever for us. And Jake? Has to be first forward picked for NSW.

We certainly weren't faultless, we fell asleep in the 2nd half. And showed a lack of discipline at times when that occurred.

It’s been a pretty contant flow of torn ACL’s at Brookie in recent years. You’d think considering how much in player wages it puts on the shelf each season they’d care more about it. I know the few times a year I get out on the grass I’m always just appalled with the state of it.

Surely a life long Manly fan is allowed to have an opinion and express it on this fine fan forum without being chastised for it? Or is a lobotomy a prerequisite for participation? Agree with your sentiments Max ... but apart from his female fixation ... he is at least eloquent and mildly amusing ... he may end up being good value.

One negative post regarding the quality of the game is "a life long whinger" and a demonstration of my reluctance to "back & support" my team.
