Look I’m not having a go here at dce but to play as a halfback only to kick into touch on tackle 5 to give our forwards a rest isn’t enough. He needs to run the ball more similar to what most of the other halfbacks do.There were so many holes in that canberra defence tonight dce could have ran into they looked as tired as us but he chooses not to.

We completed at 90% and were ahead on kick metres and kicks in play.
I'd say Des would be very happy with him doing what he did and how he did it.
It was obvious from the first couple of sets that the drop off ball to a forward coming back into the ruck was the game plan ( yes, it looks like a lazy play but in Des he trusted).
Once Walks went down he needed to run the show even more, why risk running it on the 4th or 5th that would take him out of the next play?
The team were obviously on the same page, there was no panic on the last tackle with a stupid kick - no risk of a seven tackle set.
The only time he kicked it dead was when he went to dummy half and that wouldn't have been the plan.
He had a nice dart late in the 2nd half near the Raiders line that nearly paid dividends, blame the game plan if you like but you'd be a hard marker to fault yesterday's plan and execution.
He ran the show yesterday - yes, game managed for which he gets criticised every other week - to coach's instructions I'd say and whilst we'd all like him to be flashy all the time he kept at it, led well and his troops followed.

During the pre match show on Fox yesterday they panned to the Manly dressing rooms & DCE was standing there having a laugh with some of the other guys & looked really relaxed.

That gave me the first inking we might win yesterday.

Obviously that evaporated pretty quickly upon Walker & Parker going down but started coming back after our gutsy performance to defend & then score the first try, despite Canberra having so much possession prior to that.

Great effort all around from every one of the boys.

And when Tom went down and dce jogged over I noticed him quickly look skyward as in "oh no... not again!" And as he said in the post match interview.... faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar......etc

He sounded a bit emotional post game too.

Hearing Dylan Walker (foot) and Tom Trbojevic (hamstring) both facing about six weeks out for @SeaEagles. Good outcome for Walker considering Lisfranc fracture - usually a three month lay-off - was first feared @NRLcom

6 weeks for both is a good result considering. Backs to the wall baby!! Let’s do this!

We wont win a premiership on yesterdays performance but it will help us have a chance. I hear the commentators say roosters and eels on the top shelf. Raiders and us on next level. We beat the roosters and the eels .. well.!!!! To get 2 points against the raiders under those circumstances was massive. The guys out on their feet and yet did not try any quick fix ideas by attempting to move the ball about. They trusted their defense. The running the ball on 6th tackle showed their mindset. So proud of them.
It's all about the fitness of the players and momentum heading into the finals, full healthy squad and in the finals , we're a big chance, but if we limp in, we'll limp out.

Not surprising but the media would have had a field day if that happened at Brookvale:

The Panthers clash with South Sydney Rabbitohs has been moved to Netstrata Jubilee Oval following concerns about the playing surface at Campbelltown Stadium.

The NRL informed Panthers of its decision to relocate the game on Monday afternoon.

"The NRL is confident a well-worn Campbelltown Stadium playing surface did not contribute to injuries suffered by Manly stars Dylan Walker and Tom Trbojevic, despite holding concerns over the field before Sunday's game kicked off against Canberra. . . ."
Oh yeah? What about Parker who slipped on the surface?
