Dessy for CEO once he steps down from his coaching position I would support after how he handled this debacle. I also respect DCE for fronting the media face on about this issue.Completely agree, I was pretty impressed with Des.
You're entitled to your opinion."Belief of religion over science" has zero to do with this.
I don't have time to submit my genealogy and CV to you at this point, or more accurately, I don't have the inclination. You aren't attempting to play the man instead of the ball are you?So what is your "background" and why is your background more likely to be less "ignorant"
What makes your "background" less ignorant and the more informed side to belong to.The players named are from Samoan or Tongan backgrounds, and apparenly these places were well indoctrinated by driven Christian missionaries long ago, and therefore many are now very religious (we are told).
Too kind! lolYou're entitled to your opinion.
I was brought up to question established dogma and especially to question revealed truth. What makes your "background" less ignorant and the more informed side to belong to.
Can one be more informed and educated than you and be Samoan or Tongan or is this not possible?
You stated this view so out of respect to the seven it is targeted at you should explain why. You're entitled to your opinion.
Being religious does not mean one is ignorant.I was brought up to question established dogma and especially to question revealed truth.
If I was brought up to accept those things I would probably now be ignorant and maybe even religious.
Oh how the ones pleading for tolerance and inclusion are the most intolerant ones of all. Good on the magnificent 7 for having the courage and conviction for standing up for their cultural, religious or moral beliefs.Sack them all. Obviously the jersey and the club mean nothing to these homophobes. I want a club that is inclusive of all. These guys want to discriminate. Get rid of them or they will be the cancer in the playing group going forward.
They have been focusing on the job since day one and respecting "inclusivity" since day one.
Seems you are trying to say they should "just get on with the job" regardless of what is promoted on the jersey.
The players have every right to take the stance they have, the club is more in the wrong than the players. The club has apologized for the lack of prior consultation so the onus is on the club to back that apology with actions and defer the promotion until a more inclusive consultation process is in place.
Does this mean the players will go ahead in the future and play under this jersey---no, but it at least respects all parties and shows respect for all views and beliefs.
To me the very carefully worded response by Des appeared more like a Lawyer crafting a response to protect the club, maybe the Folau case had some influence in the style of reply.
The rainbow colours to the average person is not a symbol representing a general "inclusive of all" meaning but as of today it appears to be, i wonder why.
The Manly jersey already is representative of inclusivity in the great support Ian Roberts was shown in the past and present, not this tokenism marketing rubbish to generate financial gain and trying to broaden the appeal in the modern market place.
It's a strange one. Vlandys statement today suggests all player contracts include clear statements about the league's core values that players must accept. And at Manly (and all clubs) there is apparently quite extensive training for young players about standards and values and behaviours. The person that is responsible for the decision of not consulting the playing group is IMO ultimately responsible for this debacle and should be sacked.
I don't need your genealogy i am merely pointing out the arrogance of your post and how offensive it can be to people from "the lesser background" that you seem so certain of.I don't have time to submit my genealogy and CV to you at this point, or more accurately, I don't have the inclination. You aren't attempting to play the man instead of the ball are you?
I elevate it above Christians. Without apology. And thank my ma for things she taught me when I was young. Eg 'Don't believe things just becuase they are in the paper.' The lessons have served me well.Being religious does not mean one is ignorant.
You are coming across like you are elevating your "background" above Samoans and Tongans.
The standards, values and behaviours pertain to how they interact with others and present themselves in public, nothing to do with their belief system and being forced to wear a jersey that is politically motivated, agenda based with no consultation. It's a strange one. Vlandys statement today suggests all player contracts include clear statements about the league's core values that players must accept. And at Manly (and all clubs) there is apparently quite extensive training for young players about standards and values and behaviours.
Maybe they weren't paying attention. Or maybe their managers told them, 'Dont worry about that BS, just sign on the dotted line so I can get my commission, quick!'
There's always something to think about TC. Your reply states the obvious to me that I'd be wasting my time attempting any explanation. You stated this view so out of respect to the seven it is targeted at you should explain why.
Many scientist are religious just saying.
Maybe there are certain letters in the rainbow alphabet that are not science based either, something to think about.
