Ergo, I respect a person's right to be treated fairly & with respect regardless of their sexual orientation.

Have you seen the cancer in the Australian womens Soccer team over the last 5yrs or so. What i am saying is all types can bring about a cancer like culture straight or not.

Which means the players sitting out are no more of a potential cancer than any other type of person.

Ah yes, but that right there is the crux of the issue, isn't it?

If it is truly, completely and utterly about religious beliefs, then wouldn't the women and men from the Poly communities (and any other communities) have the SAME beliefs? Why can it be fine and acceptable for the women to play next to gay colleagues each week? If they believe being gay is a sin as a fundamental part of their religion, then surely their beliefs should stop them from playing with and/or against gay players. Acceptance is irrelevant if it is all about belief and faith.

Firstly, it's not purely about religious beliefs... that's the story some tell themselves to justify things they don't wanna look at.

Secondly, you assume that the genders have equal rights within different groups. There's a whole other layer of issues.

Question for those that are OK with the decision for these 7 to stand down over this issue.

Why are the Polynesian players that play in the NRLW seemingly ok with the number of gay players that they play with each and every week? Surely a sin is a sin. There are certainly a number of gay players in the NRLW, including the Australian captain. Yet the Poly players play besides them without it seeming to be an issue.

Nope, this is just grandstanding by our players. It's choosing to be outraged at something for no real reason. Wonder is found guilty if they will still support him. After all, Wrath is one of the seven deadly sins, and the definition of Wrath is a strong anger and hate towards another person. Or will that be ok because they CHOOSE to be ok with it?

@Chunky there is a big difference between being okay with playing alongside gay players and feeling forced to advertise something they are not okay with or been in discussions about.

I'm old enough to know that in all levels of sport ( yes, even professional) that not everyone likes all their teammates or condones their lifestyles.
I play park football with a mix of functioning alcoholics, a church minister, a Mormon, a couple of other churchies and a mismash of "normal" everyday blokes. Even some of those everyday blokes I don't socialise with but we function as a team, mostly.
They don't try to impose their ways/thoughts on me just like I don't impose my ways/thoughts on them.
That is whilst I don't agree with the dissenting seven from a team point of view I can still respect their will and rights to do so.

I think most people agree with your first point which is why most are disappointed the that we have 7 players sitting out. I respect their right to not agree with the message on the jersey, but in the end they're meant to just to focus on the job of playing footy.

Well, in that story, the 7 sitting out would be the destructive force as they are the ones who are not just focusing on the job, but rather, focusing on their beliefs. Right?

During the Israel Folau debarcle , I told people that they were seriously underestimating the depth of Folau's beliefs and the strength of his convictions ....

Rugby Aust. and Qantas soon learnt that they had also seriously underestimated the amount of support he had in the broader community ...

Disagree with the stance the players make all you want ... but the numbnuts calling them weak are seriously underestimating the depth of their beliefs, and the genuine strength of their convictions .... they will also be surprised by the amount of support they have in the broader community ..
