I hope to god that the Roosters are putting way to much presure on him to perform after their 2 first losses. It will only work to our advantage today.

Sydney Roosters coach Chris Anderson believes rookie halfback Mitchell Pearce needs to win the confidence of his teammates before he can help revive the fortunes of the former NRL powerhouse.

Pearce showed plenty of promise on debut against North Queensland last weekend, the 17-year-old son of former Australian and Balmain Tigers lock Wayne Pearce trying every trick in the book before the Roosters were eventually overrun by the Cowboys to the tune of 43-6.

After dumping both his halves after the season-opening loss to Souths, Anderson said he would keep faith with the Pearce-Braith Anasta scrumbase combination - starting with Sunday's game against undefeated Manly at Aussie Stadium.

But while Anderson is an obvious fan of the precociously talented teenager, the Roosters mentor admitted Pearce still had plenty of work to do to gain the same faith from his teammates.
