Other Games [Round Five, 2022]

Gutho bothers me with his posturing, his prancing and his staging. Maybe he has consumed the coolaid - but to me is a first class knob.
It always hurts to see him play well though, we let him go for Walker, but Gutho has been the far better of those two players over the ensuing years.

I don't mind Gutho, I don't think he takes himself too seriously & even said in his post-match interview that what he lacks in skill he tries to make up for with persistence & effort.

The only thing that bothers me is stuff like when he kicks or tosses the ball away if a decision goes against Parra, not very sportsmanlike IMO but on the lower end of the scale of offensive actions I suppose.

Pretty sure Tedesco was the first one to cynically use the captain's challenge to get the bunker to look at an infringement earlier in a passage of play 2 years ago?

Meanwhile they are excusing the Paulo shoulder charge - it was a shoulder charge all day and night. We can see the seeds of a Parramatta premiership being sown. Fair to say if we saw Tapau, Aloai or Keppie drop that shoulder charge we know the weeks on their arse they would spend

I'm trying to work out why the media are calling it controversial sin-bin.

1 - It was a shoulder charge.
2 - 'At best' it grazed the shoulder before going full force into the head of the opponent.

I understand fwits like gutho saying 'shoulder on shoulder' because team-mates, etc, but surely it's quite clear what happened.

He always had the potential to be a superstar... But sadly he's lazy.
I never saw the 'potential- potential' with Suli... He played a few games really young for the tigers and I can only guess people predicted he could be as good as B.J Leilua was projected to be for the Roosters at a similar age. Neither Suli nor B.J ever 'developed/delivered' what people envisioned and I was never surprised.
Suli came from a club that marked guys like Blake Ayshord and Tim Moltzen to be the next big thing in backline breakouts (I even thought Chris Lawrence was overrated- and he seemed like a legit nice person and played for the Kangaroos at one stage).

Your right. There certain bias to some players. Some teams do forward passes and they dont even get called by some commentators, and hits the same way. Look back to thursday night, they made sure they mentioned Josh,s hit and Guauca,s as well but other certain players who they favour, dont get a mention. There is so much bias towards certain teams and players and Ennis saying that isnt Gutho the most complete player you have ever seen. He said the same about Turbo last year. That was a shoulder charge if I have ever seen one from Paulo

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. He's the tough mother every forward pack needs. Has been one of the pillars of the Rorters success over recent years.
I agree but still a 1st class cheap shotter who gets away with it way to easily and way too often

Yeah, but if he was our first-class cheap shotter you'd feel differently about him🙂

I'm the same: hate some of the grubby aspects of his game, but he never takes a backwards step and has been the cornerstone of the Roosters' pack ever since he left us, which pisses me off more than the grubbiness. And it's not like you couldn't tell he was going to be good.

Remember when he refused to shake Hetherington's hand after a game?

4-0 dragons over roosters (nrlW)

He could never have been our first-class cheap shotter because he would have been rubbed out of the game and/or neutered playing that way for Manly. He was smart by going to a team that would allow him more leeway for that stuff.

Tigers are so bad. The pommy centre Gildart doesn’t have a clue. Our new boy tuilagi will struggle to make the manly bench.

Isolating with Covid hence I'm "watching" this tripe. All I can say is the DCE haters should watch 5mins of Dwarf head Brooks, OMFG he has to be the most overrated/overpaid #7 for a long long time.

PS. That Talakai is a tank, loving his work.
