Perenara is actually OK in the bunker, but Brown was offside and you can't say he didn't get involved in the play. He was right next to the ball!
You could here on the replay “…players to the left of the kicker cleared as onside…”
WTF?
You would think that after one or two looks he’d realise that was incorrect but not old Henry.

That was semi-final defence from the Raiders. Brutal. Loved it. And Rapana, he just competes for everything. That 40/20 kick he stopped. Not a lot of fullbacks could’ve pulled that off. And then knocking Sivo into Disneyland at the end. Body on the line. Nothing wrong with that.

100% I don't see how it could be a shoulder charge when it was nothing more than hip on hip.

I notice on social media that Worms fans are blowing up again it ... but they're strangely quiet on the subject of Brown being offside.

The Bunker is the coaches graveyard . That is where they go before they die
Looks like Old Henry has got a few more good years left in the bunker

While on a personal level I feel for Henry Perenara having to give up his on-field refereeing career due to a heart condition ... his full time move into the bunker has not improved the quality of his refereeing.

He's still garbage.
The pressure-cooker environment of rugby league refereeing can't be good for his health. Perhaps it would be better all round if he found a less stressful job.

You were talking about his great defence . Were you not ?

I remember that . It was a great pass by Foz who put him in a hole near the line .
Which player could not have scored that?
To be fair and impartial have you listed to the Foz interview on 2gb (or triple m) footy show last weekend where he said it was all Parker that called that play. Foz said Brad had noticed the defence peeling off and directed Him to run the play so sure many a centre would have scored frombthat sublime pass but how many would have demanded Foz run the play in the first place. 🤔

It was on 2GB and correct the panel were giving Foz the credit and Foz said Brad Parker called it.

As a winger he is out of positin but as a centre his defence is top shelf and he hits a gap as good as anyone in the comp. It wasn't a fluke either as he has done it multiple times.

There is every chance Parra may not win another regular season game.
That would be almost an perfect finish to the year, to make it perfect from a Parramatta perspective, keep the losing streak going and dish out of the semis week one in a mass capitulation, full embarrassment, fan bashing end to the year, premiership window gone, Parra gone, just the thought of it brings joy.

That was obviously a great game last night and well done to Canberra for some finals-like intensity, but...

but...

Parramatta threw nothing at them in attack and the Raiders threw nothing at Parramatta in attack. There wasn't a point scored for 45 minutes and both sides could only muster 12 and 10 points respectively off some opportunistic plays.

Come finals time, Canberra will struggle because teams with players like Cleary, Munster, Trbo, etc. will be much more adept at breaking down that defence. With a spine of Sam Williams, Wighton and Rapana, there are not going to be a lot of points scored by the Green Machine.

I still think they'll struggle to get past week 1.

That last try-saving tackle again shows why Bunker decisions should only rely on real-time action. To the eye -- which is how our game should always be judged -- it was superb defence from Canberra, showing just how committed the Faders' players were. Rapana just threw his body at Sivo without a thought about self-preservation.
Yet as soon as the Bunker intervenes and stop-frames the action they start looking for ways to show that they are the smartest people in the sport. Stop-frame distorts reality. It certainly also distorts the intent of players.
Thankfully this time common sense prevailed and they didn't rule a penalty try for some spurious reason, as has often happened.

Raiders pack is certainly back at a competitive level again , maybe hard to maintain that level of intensity every game for the rest of the season but can 't be underestimated . Some uncharacteristic errors by Manly and a few players off their game but really did not do that badly against them a couple of weeks ago when going down . Again question will be whether the Raiders can keep that level of willing defence up and naturally against some of the better attacking units .
