Other Games - Round 16, 2018

The game is so stop-start now because of Video interference, play being stopped to treat all injuries (not just serious one or when the prone player is in the way), too many penalties, deliberate time-wasting . .
I Believe that, like the AFL, when the ball goes out of play the time should stop. I also believe that the time should stop for goal kicks.

I'm sure I heard Checin say to the video ref "my view was obstructed so I couldn't see the put down...", yet he ruled it a try. The video footage was inconclusive and he said (to paraphrase) "We can't tell but because it was ruled a try we have to stick with that!"
So the decision of try was based on a ref's guess.

It should be benefit of the doubt if the ref didn't see it. I find it far more frustrating when the refs say they didn't see and they assume a try was NOT scored, particularly in a held up situation where the camera is likely to be obstructed so it won't give enough evidence to overturn the ref.

It's still weird how the video ref rules on things that he isn't ask to.

Eg: If the on field ref rules a try but just wants to check the kick chasers are on side the vidiot ref will go:

"Ok, all players are on side at the kick",
- we've checked there is no obstruction...
- we've checked the player remains in the field of play
- and we've cleared the grounding

we have a decision and Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Thanks vidiots, but the ref didn't friggen ask you to check all that. They were happy with it.

OK, so many will say that they vidiot ref may as well make sure everything is correct....BUT

- How come then if the on field ref wants to check grounding...they don't go all the way back to the start of that play, AND

Don't forget Todd said we can't have Captains challenges because it would slow the game down.... yet he is happy for the video refs slow the game down checking on things not asked for.

May as well just say if the try gets sent upstairs, ref checks everything, on field ref does not make a try/no try call, and you get 2 Captains challenges per game.

Or maybe not...what do I know? - D Lussick

I'm sure one of the commentators mentioned last week that the vidiot ref can only rule on what he's specifically been asked to check, not that it matters anyway because generally the one thing they need to look at they get wrong anyway.
But in saying that i thought Souffs last try was dodgy as...when Walker (?) played the ball he pretty much walked through the marker and pushed him away fairly forcefully, would love to have seen the marker hit the deck to make it obvious.
