Other Games - Round 16, 2018

I read one a few weeks back but it was more like smith has 'withdrawn' his friendship and cronk doesn't know why. So I guess he moved on and wasn't going to let sCam get away with it on tv.

dunno

I heard pre season that Smith was not an attendee at Cronks wedding, whether he was invited or not I'm unsure on but obviously something not right between them

I was wrong about the two point gap to the Bulldogs, they’ve had their bye and we haven’t , so we will be 4 points ahead of Eels and 2 in front of the Dogs.

Only way though to guarantee no spoon is KEEP WINNING!!

If the Dogs win when we get the bye both clubs will be on 12 points. We will only have a two-points gap if the Dogs lose.
Isn't it amazing that the Dogs overnight win comes without three of their biggest 'stars' - FOURan, Mybe and Woods?
And we beat the high-flying Panthers without 6-7 of our 'best' players.

I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a knock on.... but anyhow.... this is football as we know it.

When did we stop actually adjudicating whether a ball goes back towards one goal line or forward towards the opposition's goal line, and just assume every time the ball hits the ground it is a knock on? I don't wanna see the pathetic lax interpretation used in union, but a bit of common sense please.

Ohh, except of course when Billy Slater drops it and it's deemed a drop kick...

I’m struggling to think of a time when Souths incurred the wrath of the ref/refs. I think it was a game in May 1978 when they were last a bit stiff with the calls.

Other than that obversation, go the Bunnies.

Braith contradicting Brandy and Smith on the dodgy Souths try. Chechin got it right.

Brandy got called disrespectful for saying JT had played a year too long.
To me JT was the best half I've seen.
But Brandy was right

Brandy is 100% right.

Thurston lost the match for the cowgirls today . Penalised for taking an attacker out - try next set of 6.
Dropped the ball - field goal next set of six.
Missed field goal.

Suk ****e Thurston

Coen Hess would be my biggest disappointment of this season. I thought he'd kill it after last years efforts.

Anyone else watch the game today?

When Thurston drops the ball, before that happens the support player on the inside is tackled by the Souths player.
It's a dead set penalty. Couldnt have been more obvious yet nothing.
I'm so sick of referees deciding games.

Pretty much the Warriors game was also decided by refereeing decisions. They were clearly robbed.

Anyone else also notice that they play different rules in SoO, all the sh*t they let go in the SoO games compared to the non stop penalty fest that we see in these games.
Watching games can be so f***ing annoying.

What I did notice was Marty being penalised for not playing the ball correctly when it may have not touched his foot.

Was there any other play the ball penalties in the Manly game or others?

There were plenty of worse play the balls.

I think the vast majority of sports watchers now realise that using videos to get decisions 100% correct is a fallacy. Just looks how it's turned the Soccer World Cup into Controversy Corner.
But in RL it looks like we are stuck with it. At least they could improve it by not asking the referee to rule "try or no try". If the ref goes to the video he is unsure. I'm sure I heard Checin say to the video ref "my view was obstructed so I couldn't see the put down...", yet he ruled it a try. The video footage was inconclusive and he said (to paraphrase) "We can't tell but because it was ruled a try we have to stick with that!"
So the decision of try was based on a ref's guess.
Far better that the ref doesn't have to indicate their guess. If they go to the video then the decision should be solely up to the video ref. If it is inconclusive then it is no try.
Mind you, the game was far better when the ref, and the touchies, made decisions on the spot. They got their share of rulings wrong, but so do video refs. The difference is that video slows down the match, ruins spontaneity and encourage every viewer to have an opinion.

It's still weird how the video ref rules on things that he isn't ask to.

Eg: If the on field ref rules a try but just wants to check the kick chasers are on side the vidiot ref will go:

"Ok, all players are on side at the kick",
- we've checked there is no obstruction...
- we've checked the player remains in the field of play
- and we've cleared the grounding

we have a decision and Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Thanks vidiots, but the ref didn't friggen ask you to check all that. They were happy with it.

OK, so many will say that they vidiot ref may as well make sure everything is correct....BUT

- How come then if the on field ref wants to check grounding...they don't go all the way back to the start of that play, AND

Don't forget Todd said we can't have Captains challenges because it would slow the game down.... yet he is happy for the video refs slow the game down checking on things not asked for.

May as well just say if the try gets sent upstairs, ref checks everything, on field ref does not make a try/no try call, and you get 2 Captains challenges per game.

Or maybe not...what do I know? - D Lussick
